She sprinted deeper and deeper into the forest trying to outrun the rouges wolfs she knew were after her. She pushed herself further as she began to feel her lungs burn and her legs becoming numb meaning she would probably pass out from exhaustion before making it out, if only she could tap into her wolf to escape the forest in time but all the wolfsbane she had been injected over the years had made her wolf dormant leaving her weak and undefended. Why me? she thought as she struggled to continue to run.
To preoccupied with her own self pitty Aria tripped on a tree root that was sticking out of the ground and before she could regain her balance her body collided with the ground and at that moment a howl pierced the forest and she knew she had lost. They were closing in and there was no way out of this mess, she was too tired and the impact to her head as she hit the ground was making her sleepy as her eyes began to feel heavy.
"Wake up my child. Wake up" an angelic voice rang in her ear but Aria couldn't bring herself to open her eyes, she was too exhausted. Suddenly she felt a bright light engulf her whole and as she finally opened her eyes she was no longer lying on the muddy forest floor, she was what she could only describe as an enchanting meadow with a stream flowing freely in front of her.
"Where am I?" She questioned out loud as she stood and took in her surroundings. "You're somewhere safe" the stranger's voice made Aria turn around so fast that black dots began to dance in front of her and her vision became blurry for a second. "Do not stress my child you're safe" it spoke again and Aria recognised it as the same voice she had heard before she fell its unconsciousness on the forest floor.
"Who are you?" Aria asked trying to sound strong but the crack in her voice gave away the truth. She was terrified. She had no idea where she was nor who the voice was and she still had to find a way to escape the rouges after her if they hadn't already found her. Before she could enquire again bright white lights began to dance in front of her, they almost looked like fireflies but the lights grew larger and a silhouette began to form just as the 'fireflies' disappeared and in front of her stood a woman with long white hair and a flowy white gown. "My name is Selene child but you may know me as-" the woman began to say. "The Moon goddess!" Aria exclaimed as her eyes widened in shock and bowed her head in submission.
"That's quite alright dear, there is no need for such formalities" Selene assured her and gestured for her to follow and both began to walk through the meadow in silence.
A few minutes passed by and Aria couldn't contain herself anymore. "Where am I?" she asked looking at Selene breaking the silence. "You ain't here nor there child. You're in-between" Selene answered simply and before Aria could ask what exactly she meant by that Selen spoke again. "Tell me Aria, would you like to return home? see your parents again?" Aria was shocked that the moon goddess knew her name at first but soon enough answered her question with a nod not trusting her voice. "Very well. Then I suppose it is time for you to wake up" Selene told her and as Aria was about to open her mouth the same bright light that had engulfed her previously returned causing her to shield her eyes before Selene disappeared and Aria was greeted by darkness once again.
