DEMONIC MANOEUVRES
A week had passed since Killer Joe’s visit to Sunbo, therefore she had two more weeks to go but the least of Sunbo’s worries was Killer Joe. She travelled to Ijebu, a town about 150 kilometres away from Lagos, to consult Baba, a fetish priest, concerning an issue she regarded as more pressing.
When Sunbo had finished telling Baba her problems, he consulted the oracle. He sat down on the ground of the shrine and spread a white piece of cloth between his parted legs.
“Sit over there” he told Sunbo as he pointed to a low stool opposite him. Next, Baba brought out some cowries from a leather pouch and threw these on the white cloth, between his legs.
“Sunbo” Baba said, looking up from the cowries he had thrown on the cloth “the gods say you shall have your own child.”
