It truly has been a while since I left the girls at that pack and started my journey. The sun has long since gone, and the pain from the beating in the morning to breaking ties just before lunch has faded away as well, though a pain much worse is about to appear.
In the patch of land surrounding me is really just trees. I was hoping to either find some water or a cave. But that seems like it's not going to happen.
Just as my inner monologue says that the clouds shift, and the moonlight shines on a large hole. It was like the angel "ahh" moment in movies.
However, at that same time, the pain of the shift starts. My knees buckle and change into either an Angel or Devil form! The wait is killing me! And so is the pain.
--- Unknown Amount of Time Lapse ---
The shift is finally over now- the pain is still radiating. My wings move of their own accord as if I had always had them, and the sparkling white of the wings glint in my eyes. I'm an Angel?
I'm an Angel. I'm an Angel! I'M AN ANGEL! Woo-hoo!
Testing out my new powers, I shift into the second nature shift. This is the most comfortable shift of a Sin other than their category shift. It is supposed to be the animal that reflects their personality the most.
Sitting on the ground, closing my eyes, I breathe in the smell of the forest, relaxing. The power of the land swirls around me, and the first animal that comes to mind is this cute little wolf pup—the size of those comically large teacups.
Tingles started to shoot throughout my body as the swirls become more intense. Finally, the swirls pulsate, and my body falls to the ground; in a tiny thump and yelp, I'm that Gray Wolf pup that I saw.
Leaping around, I chase the moonlight that darts between the branches. I roll around in the leaves before settling down on my back, staring up, and the sudden fatigue hits me. The energy to shift back into the human form escapes me as well.
Realizing that I spent way too much time playing, I crawl on my stomach to the hole I spotted earlier. Settling down peacefully, I sleep in a non-dreamlike state. Only for a moment, I promise myself.
And for a moment, it was. The sun, not even over the horizon, start to bother my eyes, waking me up. Then there was a noise.
'Snap!'
The twig that snapped had the following cracking noises. Each getting nearer than the last. Finally, seven men stepped out behind the tree. No, they aren't hot as the fire in hell like in most werewolf books; they looked like ordinary men who radiated strong power. They all looked to be my age; maybe they will go easier on me?
"Rogue, what are you doing here?" the tallest and scariest of them all said.
"To be a rogue, you would imply that I am a werewolf," I said in a highly snarky tone with a little raise of a brow. Ooh, Thalia would be proud.
Their dumfounded look made me break out into peels of laughter. The whole shabang, rolling, tears, everything. Saying, "You- you- you should have seen your faces!"
The one with hair that is dark as night spoke up. "Miss, you need to see the Alphas. Do ya' wanna do this the easy way or the hard way?"
Like I was gonna let that happen. So I bolt out of the circle and out of the hole.
For the first time in my life, I scaled a tree, and then I jump reaching a branch, then move like a monkey. Jump, glide, jump, glide.
Then I had a sudden realization:
One, I can not jump over to the other side of this body of water.
Two, there are no longer any footsteps behind me.
Three, I have a fear of heights.
The meaning: I am stuck. Oh well, I am too tired to be running, and I have been living as a slave for practically my whole life; the dungeons might not be that bad.
The guys below me discuss how to get me down from the tree as I cling to the trunk. The leanest of the dudes then starts to climb the tree, and this time I don't resist.
He wraps an arm around my waist, and in my hazed fright, I slip into little space. Moving my arms around my neck, I koala hug him, whimpering as he starts to climb down.
I refuse to let go of him even after we are safely on the ground. Even after one of them tries to pry me off of him. Then, finally, the bulky guy from earlier speaks, "Rouge, what is your name?"
"My, my nawme is Kawi" the whimper trails off at the end. And the guy holding me nods, moving his arms to what I assume is a more comfortable position.
They start walking towards wherever as I stay tensed and clung to that random dude. The walk lasts for who knows how long; I really need a watch, but my body starts feeling numb when they finally stop.
One of the guys rub my back and tell me to let go in a kind voice. Though I am still nervous that my past that I just escaped will repeat (I pray to the goddesses that I am going to meet a benevolent Alpha), I relax my body and let go.
A cool breeze hits my face as the ornate doors swing open. Grabbing the edge of my shirt, I start twisting it whilst biting my inner cheek.
The guys lead me to a glass one-way door before knocking. The bulky guy mutters, "There are four alphas in our pack, and two of them are female."
At the end of the warning, the intercom rings out, "Come in."
