DEDICATION” Montmart led Sam out of the diner to the parking lot where he opened the passenger door of a fairly new-looking black Toyota. Sam got in, looking for signs of another female’s presence, but she knew the Toyota may have been an undercover car and that the family car might be Philip’s wife’s. As soon as he was behind the wheel, Montmart lit up again, opening his window with an automatic lever. Taking a few puffs and exhaling out the window, he stubbed the half-finished cigarette out in the car ashtray that was already full of blackened cigarette butts.
