  Lex's POV   The office was quiet except for the low hum of the air conditioning and the occasional click of my pen against the desk. I sat at the head of the conference table, sleeves rolled to my elbows, reviewing the final slides one last time   Work has always been the easiest way to silence my thoughts.   Numbers don't lie. Contracts don't hesitate. Deals don't look at you like they can ruin you with a single expression. Work obeys logic, and logic is something I understand.   The client walking through those doors in less than twenty minutes was one of the biggest we'd ever courted, a multinational conglomerate looking to expand into Southeast Asia.   Closing this deal would mean billions in revenue over the next decade, and more importantly, it would silence the board members
