It was a warm night as the doors to the slave market were swung shut for the auction. Elizabeth and Caroline were the only women present for it, Elizabeth at Ron's insistence and Caroline at Elizabeth's invitation. They stood together, apart from the small crowd of men who were waiting for it all to begin. They were dressed to kill. Elizabeth wore one of her favorite dresses, a demure sleeveless frock in a royal blue so dark it could easily be mistaken for black. She wore heels, and she'd had her hair done, so that now it was piled atop her head in an elegant style that, with the heels made her appear just as tall as Ron.
