I stood just outside my door, quietly crying. There was no way out of this, none that I could see. Being friends would never work, I was stuck here forever. "Darling!" My mother came up. "Your awake Millicent." I nodded. "Yeah, I'm not feeling good." I said. "Were you crying?" She asked and came over, I licked my lips.
"Yeah. Looks like I'm no good for Flynn afterall. He called off the engagement." I took off my ring and gave it to her. I walked past her, heading downstairs. I walked to the couch and curled up next to the armrest.
In bad situations, Hollance was always here, when I would curl up like this, he would lay on the floor holding my hand. He was gone now, dead, I'd never see him again. I heard my mother screaming and covered my ears.
This was never going to work. I screamed at the top of my lungs while crying. Someone ran down the stairs, it was Flynn. "Go away! I don't want you here! You killed everyone, and you keep doing it! I get it, I know how you feel! Kill me!" I screamed. "It won't do anything here why would I waste my time." He said.
"Then go away! Leave me alone!" I screamed, the house shook, and the coffee table disappeared. Flynn stepped away in shock. "What…" I muttered. A clock appeared on the floor, it was counting down from seventy-two hours. "Flynn, what is that?" I asked. "A bomb probably." He said and picked it up.
"A bomb, well I bet you put it there, in this world your evil, you and your damn family." I said, he glared at me. "Sorry it's a fact, you murdered Hollance." I snapped. The couch disappeared, I hit the floor. Two hours on the clock vanished, I glared at Flynn. "Look at what you did." He said and dropped the clock.
"Me! That was all you! You are probably trying to blow me up. I wonder if that's going to work any better than last time. Oh wait, we'll just restart." I snapped, he walked closer, minutes ticked down faster. "Stop, the time!" I exclaimed, he looked at the clock. Almost three hours gone.
"Okay, what if we… don't fight?" I asked. "Says you." He said turning around. "I won't if you won't." I said, the second took longer to pass. "See, it's working. Just don't fight with me." I said, he scoffed. I stood up, he glanced at me, I closed my robe. "Look, we may be able to fix this. We just… have to be friends." I said.
"Why? You'll just throw me in prison when we get back." He said and walked away. "No! I'd throw you in prison if you tried to kill me. I want to live as much as you, we have that in common, and we killed each other's families. If you leave, never come back, I'll let this go." I said. He backhanded me.
I hit the floor again, he grabbed one of the bats against the wall. "Flynn stop!" I screamed. "Why!" He yelled and smacked me with it. I screamed and crawled backwards. "Because Flynn, you're ticking away our time. Think about it, everytime we argue, time goes away. It'll kill us both, for sure." I said and missed a hit.
"Flynn, listen to me!" The clock was ticking down in hours. "We have sixty hours! Flynn stop." That was all I remembered.
I woke up on my bed with Flynn again, he breathed quietly. I stared at the ceiling, his arms were wrapped around me. I took a deep breath and looked at my ring. I stared at it until the room was spinning around me, I looked away. I blinked my eyes and moved, Flynn held me. "Flynn, the room is spinning." I muttered.
The colors mixed together, it was all one big blob, Flynn still wouldn't wake up. "Flynn something is wrong, I can't see." I said, I could feel his breath moving to my shoulder. "Flynn!" I yelled and sat up. My vision came back, I threw my ring, he stared at me.
"Okay we need to fix the clock and stop argu…" I gasped as he kissed my neck. "This is not how we fix the clock." I argued, he pulled me back towards him and moved my hair. "Flynn what is wrong with you?" I asked, he turned my head and smiled. “Nothing.” He said and kissed me. "We need to fix the clock, this is not what I meant by friends." I muttered as he went down my b*a.
"Stop." I pulled away and got off the bed. "You just killed me with a bat, and now you're kissing me… no you're not Flynn from my world. Your this Flynn, how? Look I'm calling off the engagement." I said, he grabbed me and yanked me back. I gasped and he grabbed my hands. "Why?" He asked and put me on his lap and kissed me.
"Because I'm in love with Hollance Collins." I said, he laughed and laid me down on the bed. "You hurt me a few days ago, I'm done. He's nice to me, and loving." I said and tried crawling away. He pulled me back and held my hands down.
"Flynn let me go!" I screamed, he blinked a few times and got off me. "Flynn? Are you… well you?" I asked, he touched his lips and looked at me. "You're disgusting." He yelled. "What did you do?" I shook my head. "I didn't do it!" I yelled.
"I woke up all dizzy and you kissed me, multiple times might I add. You are the… the clock." I ran out of the room, rushing downstairs. The clock was at forty-nine hours. Flynn stood at the bottom of the stairs. "We need to work together. I know you don't trust me, and you hate me. I swear on not my life, but Hollance's life, and Zachary's." I said.
"If I break my promise, if I call the cops, if I don't let you go, you can kill them. Do we have a deal, if you don't leave me after this, I can throw you in prison. I love them, like you love your family, so you know I'm not lying." I said.
He stared at my extended hand, contemplating whether to shake or not. He came closer and grabbed my hand. "Deal?" I asked. "Deal." He said and shook my hand. "So what now? We sit here and not argue." He asked. "No, there has to be something. We're in the past, where my parents are good and yours are evil." I thought.
"The picture!" I ran back upstairs, Flynn at my heels. I grabbed it from the dresser and took it out of the frame. I turned it over. "Ha, see." I said. "Words." I said. I read them, it was a damn riddle. "Great." I said. Flynn took it and read it.
"Do you know where we might find a key hidden in the gem of a lost love? Where the key represents desire and longing, to only open the door of a friendship not possible. The open door stops the clock and reverts a corrupted wish?" I asked.
He stared at me and shrugged. "Okay so we need a gem, do you have a lost love? Someone you gave something too, and you really love them and want them back because they left you?" I asked, he shook his head. "Well my love is Hollance, and I don't give him gems." I said. "You probably give him something else." He said.
"It said a gem. A gem specifically, plus I never lost him." I snapped. "It says a gem inside a loved one." He said. "Oh, so I should cut him open, what about desire and longing, that isn't a problem with me." I said. "How am I supposed to know. I can't read your feelings." He said. "Well it isn't me? What about you? Did you give a gem away and lose th…" I stopped.
"My ring." I said. "My engagement ring! In this world, I'm engaged to Flynn, he like… loves loves me. Zachary and I kill him, I fall in love with Zachary. Kill me again, I lost the ring." I said, Flynn stared at me.
"Do it!" I said. “What no, the time will be counted down more.” He said. "But we have the answer now, it doesn't matter, we can fix this. Our deal still stands, do you want to escape or not?" I asked, he stared at me. "I wanna go home, even if my parents aren't there, Zentroics can burn. You can go your own way, and I'll go mine." I said. "Fine." He said and clenched his hand into a fist.
I closed my eyes tightly.
I woke up back in bed with Flynn. Three days from our wedding. We had a meeting to attend this afternoon. I climbed over his lap and slid my hands up his chest. "Morning. You should probably wake up." I whispered, he blinked and shoved me off.
"Hey!" I screamed. He stared at me, I bit my lip. "Are we getting rough?" I asked and crawled back over, he was in shock. "What's wrong?" I asked and kissed him. He was both reluctant and content. He wasn't sure, I kissed more. He pulled away, "Hi." I said. "Stop, get your head back." He said and sat up.
"My head is on straight, I promise." I said and crawled over him. He licked his lips, I smiled. "What's wrong?" I asked, I could see the desire in his eyes, the reluctancy. He looked at my stomach. "Why are you acting so weird?" I asked and showed him the ring. "You gave this to me, yesterday. Kiss me." I begged, he swallowed.
"Why did I give you the ring?" He asked and grabbed my hand. "To marry me. You love me, don't you? You can do it again if you want. I'll say yes, over and over." I said and kissed him. He kissed me back and grabbed my face. "I need the other you." He said and kissed me.
"What are you talking about, this is the only me." I said and kissed his hand. "Tell me you love me." I whispered, he let my face go. "No, not this me." He said and held my waist. I blinked, I pulled away from Flynn and stared at him.
"I was… that other me." I muttered, I had my ring on. "Are you, you?" He asked. "Yes, you kissed me!" I shouted and crossed my arms. "When?" He asked and got up. "Like five seconds ago, the other me." I snapped. "You kissed me don't deny it." I said. "I won't because yeah, I did." He said and walked in front of me.
"Why though? I love… Flynn you killed my… what abo…" He kissed again. I let him, he laid me back and I held his face. He pulled away and stared at me. "I'm sorry. I was clouded by revenge." He said and slid his hand on my stomach. "And what now? We're okay, nothing happened between us? I'm supposed to ignore what I know?" I asked.
"Forget what happened? I have Hollance in the world, your evil here. Maybe in another life Flynn, but I don't think we'll work out, not yet." Tears rolled down onto the sheets, Flynn clenched the sheets and put his head down. "We have to go separate ways." I said. "We don't have to." He argued and got off the bed. "But fine." He said.
"Flynn, you'll be a wanted man. I love you." I said. It shocked me, I could feel the feelings of the other me, but this was true. I did care about him, I didn't want him to get hurt, but I also wanted to get back. "Flynn if we stayed here, I would leave everything behind." I said, he looked at me over his shoulder. "I never said stay here. I'll help you leave but after…" He said and looked down.
"Flynn, in the other place, you are a wanted man. Hollance is… I love him." I argued. He clenched his teeth and walked back downstairs. I quickly followed, still in my underclothes. I grabbed his hand, he threw me forward. I slid on the floor and hit the cement of the fireplace.
"Flynn don't." I said, he glared at me, the time started ticking. "I can break up with Hollance, I'll leave with you, anywhere you want." I said. That was a lie, I wanted him, but I loved Hollance… and Zachary. Three guys, one me. I couldn't decide, I just had to get out. "You're such a liar." He said and grabbed a metal rod.
"No! I will, but we have to get out. I promise, I'll do anything you want." I said and swallowed staring at him. "We'll lose too much time, we can't argue anymore." I said. He chuckled and spun the rod in his hand. "Please Flynn, I'm not a liar." I said. "But I know you, you wont leave Hollance. You wouldn't forgive me for killing your parents or your friends." He said and threw the rod at the floor and walked to the front door.
"Find your own way out. I'm not dealing with you." He said and walked out. "Flynn!" I screamed. He walked out and slammed the door. I ran to the door, I opened it up, he was in his car and driving away. "How am I supposed to fix this! We have forty hours!" I yelled. I fell on my knees and cried into my hands.
I saw Hollance across the street with his brother, I stood up and took off running towards them. "Hollance don't move!" I yelled. "Why? Is something wrong, miss?" He asked. "You're gonna die." I said, he looked confused. "Miss move!" Hollance yelled. "No! I have to save you!" I yelled, he ran at me and shoved me across the road.
A car slammed into him, he went tumbling away. "Hollance no!" I screamed. Zachary came running over as I passed out.
⏳
Flynn was driving around aimlessly when his phone rang. He received a message from Mrs. Gronze. He picked up his phone and read the message that was sent. Millicent almost got hit by a car, please come back home. Flynn shook his head and drove back to the house.
He parked it half way on the curb and got out. Flynn walked to the front door and opened it, he looked around. Millicent was laying on the couch. She didn't look injured, well not physically. She was hugging herself and crying into the pillow, she was destroyed. "Millicent." Flynn said and walked closer.
"You left me! I tried to save Hollance, but he's still dead! The clock has… we're not going home Flynn." She threw the clock on the floor, put her ring down on the floor, and ran upstairs crying. Flynn stood there in shock.
It was true the clock only had three hours on it. Flynn grabbed Millicent's ring and jogged upstairs after her. "Millicent all we have to do is solve a riddle." He said walking into her room. "There is no answer! Can't you see that! Hollance is dead and in the other world Zachary is married. You're a wanted man for killing my parents and I killed yours!" She screamed.
"We can't get along. Our lives depended on it and we can't! You left me here Flynn, I watched as Hollance died, again. I couldn't save him. There is no answer, because I wrote that riddle, as a little girl when I was eight." Flynn shook his head.
"It was part of a play." She shook her head. She laid on her bed, sobbing into her pillow, items began disappearing. "Then can't you solve it?" Flynn asked, he was desperate now, he wanted to go home.
"It's not real! Flynn nothing about that is real! That ring doesn't belong to me, because you are a liar! I thought I was, hoping for a way out. You said you were clouded by revenge, that you couldn't see how you felt. The moment you forced me to choose between you or Hollance, you were going to kill me. Beat me death with a rod, now we have three hours." She shook her head.
"We can't be friends, you don't want that. You want me to love you and I want Hollance back. You're a wanted man and I have no home. Tell me honestly, that you want to go back to that." She was being cold. "Do you really want to just sit here and vanish like everything else?" He asked.
"Maybe I do! I don't have anything left anyway. You'll probably kill Hollance when we get back... what if we don't even remember this? I'll lose everything, even my life. I thought I could do it, be your friend, but I can't. I can't forgive you." She said and looked down. That was it, the whole world that they were in vanished, into thin air.
Flynn woke up gasping in his car, the one he had stolen. They were back. Flynn looked around, nothing had changed from when he left. He quickly got out of the car and threw his stuff out onto the floor. All the c4 he was carrying laid on the lawn.
Flynn then got back in and drove across the street from Evanssa's house. He stared at Hollance's house, Millicent was inside. He got out of the car and looked around for anyone else. He walked up to the front door.
Flynn knew what he had to do. She was right, he killed her parents and now Flynn was going to apologize. He would surrender to the police. He looked at the door, nervous to do what he was about to. He put his hand up and knocked three times.
He waited a good minute for someone to open the door. No one did. He knocked again, louder this time, then waited some more. He shook my head. Flynn looked over the fence, no one was back there.
He walked back to the front door and turned the knob. He was about to walk in when it opened. Millicent stood there with Chief Williams. Flynn was scared at first, admitting what he had done. He hesitated, only for a second, "Millicent I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I killed your parents." He said and put his hands up.
