She could not fathom what possessed him to speak to her like that. For him to say that it did not concern her when they had been in a relationship for years and had known each other for over a decade infuriated her. This ordeal was going to have a massive impact on their lives and he was telling her it did not concern her. It was causing the seeds of doubt in their relationship and where it was headed in the future.
Jake got in the truck and started driving away from his parents' house. That went way worse than he expected.
