CHAPTER 4: PARTY

Sophia’s point of view

After finishing eating breakfast, I took the plates and place them on the sink. “ Sophia, my dear you don’t have to do that. The servant are here t do that.” Ethan’s mother said. “ mom even I am a servant in my own house. I’m your daughter-in-law right. So let me , I’m not used of doing nothing and mom sorry to say this but they are not just servants, they are human beings too. There are mothers, fathers, sisters, daughters, sons, husband, wife, girlfriend or boyfriend in other people.” I said.

As I finish washing the plates, I saw Ethan coming downstairs, where is he gong dressed like that.” Where are you going Ethan?” his mother asked. “ I am going to my friend’s party” he said and shifted his gaze and looked at me, why is he looking at me like that what do I got to do with the party.

“ why don’t you take Sophia along with you, I’m sure she is bored of staying her and do nothing. Let her meet new people and make new friends with them so that she won’t get bored.” His mother said.

‘ okay, go change I will be waiting for you in the car don’t take long” with that he left, and I went to my room to change. And I didn’t know what to wear, although Ethan’s mother did brought clothes for me but I still don’t see any good one that will look good on me.

“ what wrong ? haven’t you decided what to wear in these clothes come on Sophia what so hard in choosing a dress for a party. It not like you are going to someone’s wedding or funeral. It just a party and I am hundred percent sure that it will happen at night so who will have the time to see if you outfit is fine or bad?” Lillian said.

“ yes, I don’t know what to wear and I wasn’t prepared for this party. I didn’t even know about. It was mom’s idea for me to go with him and now I’m stack in which dress to wear because they are so many .” I said throwing the dress that I was holding in the bed an sat on the bed and Lillian laughed at me.

“ come, let me help you. Go and take a bath , I will see which one suite you” she said, “ okay but not a blue colour in fact take all blue clothes it my gift for you .” I said and she looked at me with the look that say are you kidding me . “ huh, why?” she ask “ don’t ask do as I say by the way , thank you for helping me” I said as I made my way to the bathroom.

When I was finished, I came out and find her already waiting for me. “ finally , you have come out , take this dress and see how it is. “ she said . it a velvet red dress “ I think it too short. No, I won’t wear this. I won’t feel comfortable in this dress.” I said I never wore dresses like this before.

“ just chill, it is not too short okay. You will see it once you wear it” she said and I took it and wore it because I didn’t have the time to argue because Ethan told me to hurry up and judging this dress, I don’t find this party interesting that I have to wear a beautiful dress to entertain others. And I’m not a single lady any more I’m married.

“ now I’m done.” I said. “ what about your hair.” Lillian said it seems like she notices everything “ don’t worry I won’t style it because you are running late and will just make it a ponytail.’ She said she should have told me; I would have done it myself.

I entered the car and found Ethan busy with his phone. “ finally, you are done. It been almost an hour since I have been waiting for you here and I almost slept I should have….” Ethan couldn’t complete his sentence when he turned his face and looked at me.

What wrong with him. Why is he looking at me like that. I touched my face to see if something is wrong with it but I didn’t put any make-up on. I only putted lip gloss on my lips nothing else.

“ what were you saying?” I asked causing him to come back in his senses. “ you are looking beautiful I must say it worthy waiting for you driver start the car.” He said

The driving was quiet and quite exciting , I was admiring the view while Ethan was driving the view was beautiful, I didn’t even notice that we have arrived. “ we have arrived, let go.” He said opening the car and I followed him.

When we entered the house, I stilled followed him like a new puppet who lost his/her home. “ wow, wow, what do we have here.” One of the mans who were sitting in the sofa said. And I think it one of Ethan’s friends.

“ come let me introduce you to my friends.” Ethan said, holding my hand, I first hesitated and when I look at Ethan , I found him looking at me , he smiled, he got close to me , he brought his face closer to mine, I didn’t want to see what he was going to do so I closed my eyes.

“ do you remember telling me you are willing to be my wife in public. Then become one, god has given you are chase. Prove yourself that you are a good wife.” He said and I opened my eyes and he gave me a baby kiss. I couldn’t help but blush. I let Ethan hold my hand and waist even I didn’t want to but for the sake of the relationship that we share I don’t mind.

“ hey buddy. Since you got married, you forgot about us.” One of them said again. “ what are you saying, I can’t leave my wife for you guys. Anyway, this is Sophia my wife. Sophia this are my friends. Victor, Kim and Ryan.” Ethan said.

“ so, this is Sophia, nice to meet you Sophia I’m Vector. “ Victor said. “ why don’t you go upstairs and take a rest because the party haven’t started.” Victor said. As they shown me the room.

LILLIAN’S POINT OF VIEW

Hi, my name is Lillian Maxwell. Daughter of my Margeret and Mike Maxwell. Sister of Ethan and Liam. I love my family a lot. I’m not that girl who changes her moods because her family’s status. And I don’t show off to people because I’m rich no I don’t do that.

Days ago , my brother Ethan got married to Sophia Travis and I’m happy that I have someone I can now call sister. The only think that only thing that I’m waiting for is to be called aunt.

But I don’t think I will ever be one. Because Sophia doesn’t love Ethan and I think neither Ethan does because their relationship is just a business deal. But Liam does, plus he was the one who was supposed to marry Sophia in the first place but he refused because of his things of not being interest in woman and he planned to never get married.

The thing started here. When Liam and Ethan returned from the Travis house , I noticed something was off.

FLASHBACKS

After Liam and Ethan returned from the Travis house. Liam quickly went to his room and I did sense something was wrong so I followed him to his room.

I found him packing his clothes. “ brother, where are you going?” I couldn’t help ask because I was curious. “ what are you doing here Lily?” he asked. “ what kind of question is that brother? Can’t I come and see my brother if I feel like too? Do I need permission to come and visit you when I’m bored or when I miss you?” I asked.

“ so, tell me, where on earth are you going with that suitcase?” I asked again. “ I’m going to a month business trip.” He spoke . what! A month is he crazy. “ a month! Do you hear yourself. What about Ethan’s wedding? Won’t you attend it?” I asked.

“ No, I don’t think so.” He said. “ what do you mean you won’t be there. Do you know how Ethan will be if he knows that you won’t be in his wedding.” I said.

I got close to him. “ Brother what wrong. You can tell me, why are you leaving, did something happened when you were there?” I asked because I was curious, I wanted to know this thing that is bothering my brother.

“ well, nothing happened but…” he said as he sat down at the edge of the bed, what does he mean? “ but what brother?” I asked as I sat next to him. “ I saw her” he said, what! He saw who? I was confused. “ who did you see brother?” I inquired because I wanted to know what bothering my brother. “ well, I think I’m in love” he said. What! My brother is in love , Liam is in love, finally , I thought he will remain a bachelor . I thought my brother will always be lonely but no I was wrong . he is in love now. He developed feelings for someone. It isn’t important to know , when did it happen? How?

“ brother, are you telling the truth or you are just pulling my leg?” I asked and he signed. “ have I ever told I lie. I’m telling the truth why don’t you trust me , I’m serious , I think I’m in love. Since when did you last saw me c***k jokes ?” he said

“ so, who is the lucky girl?” I asked. “ Sophia” he said and I stopped smiling. Sophia. But isn’t Sophia the name of the girl that Ethan is about to married? “ Sophia but Sophia….” But brother interrupted me. “ yes Sophia Travis. Ethan’s soon to be wife. The girl I rejected is now the one I’m crazy in love with. That why I’m leaving , that why I won’t attend Ethan’s wedding

I can’t let emotions disturb my work. You know , work comes first to me. I was the one who rejected her in the first place so I should pay for this.” brother said.

“ but brother you love her.” I asked. “ yes, I love her. And I don’t deny it. But how will that help. She will be my sister-in-law next week. Should I stay and welcome her” brother said. Closing his suitcase. “ brother I understand but…” I didn’t complete my sentences.” Bye Lily, see you next month.” That what he said before he left.

END OF FLASHBACK

I even remember that day Liam had a fight with dad because of his thing of not wanting to get married. I feel sorry for Liam. He never loved any women in his life, he always thin about work. He never thought of settling down and have his own family now and he used to believe that love never exist in this world but now he does believe.

He is in love, but he is still sad and feels like he is in love with a wrong person . and I can’t do anything even if I want to. I can’t just tell Ethan to leave Sophia since his older brother has realised that he is in love with her.

They just got married recently . who am I to decide they future. Who knows maybe they will fall In love later. Oh god, I’m stuck between. I have been longing to hear my brother saying this words I’m in love and when I finally heard them

I’m still not happy because he is still said and lonely. And I can’t tell mom or dad about it. It will be unfair for Ethan as well as Sophia. If I was Sophia, I would be wondering what going on. How will she feel to know she is exchange like a doll.

And I don’t think Liam will ever fall in love again. I wonder how Ethan will be when he finds out that his brother is in love with his wife.
