Episode 4

I smelled her before I saw her. She smelled of gunpowder, sweat, blood, magic, and lilacs. I never thought those things would smell so good but they did. I saw her just as she threw a knife, as I saw in that one anime with the loud-mouthed kid always shouting, "Believe it." She hit a squirrel dead on with it. I watched her remove her knife from the body, wipe it off, and return it to its hiding spot in her sleeve. She picked up the dead squirrel and started walking with it. Her gate was tired but strong. As she came to the bottom of the smallest hill she sat down on a rock. I got a good look at her face. Her eyes were dark brown, almost black. Her wet hair was dark brown, she was slender but muscled. She was wearing black cargo pants with a gun strapped to her thigh, and a short-sleeved green shirt. She had circles under her eyes as if she hadn't slept in three days. She was beautiful but she was trespassing on my land. I have to protect my pack. I don't know why she is here. She could be a hunter. Suddenly, she stands up and starts trudging up the small mountain. Why the hell is she taking the roughest path, I don't know, but I carefully follow her. I stay out of sight and watch her to see what she does.

She gets to the top of the foothills and she sees my pack house. The smoke is rising and she starts to head for it. I have to stop her. I growl and started forward. She spins around and stops dead in her tracks. I take in everything. She's so beautiful. Why is she coming for my pack? I send my alpha aura out to try to get her to turn back or at least submit to me. She isn't affected by it though. "Well, that's a first." My wolf, Orion, tells me. I could feel him being captivated by her.

She reached for her weapon on her thigh and I growled a warning at her.

"Don't do that, you'll scare her," Orion says.

"What do you mean? She will shoot us if we don't scare her." I replied in exasperation.

She started moving for her weird knife and I growled again. She stopped and looked at me in confusion. I could see the wheels turning when she finally speaks. Her voice sounds amazing to my ears. It's hypnotizing.

It'ss okay Wolfie, I will give you this scrumptious squirrel if you just let me go." She stated and held up the squirrel.

"Did she just call me Wolfie? What the fuck...who the f**k does she think she is calling an alpha Wolfie?" Orion was angry as I was speechless.

She tossed the squirrel at me and out of instinct I caught it without a second thought. She watched me and didn't take her eyes off mine. They were captivating. She took a step back and I stopped growling at her. I was trying to plead with my eyes for her to stop. She took another step and I started to whine. Hoping she would stop but she didn't. She took one more large step backward and I lunged for her. I was too late. She fell from the cliff. It was about a 50-foot drop and I couldn't save her. I howled knowing she wouldn't make it. I heard her hit the granite at the bottom of the cliff. I jumped down knowing I could easily land on all fours. She was unconscious. I could hear her heart still beating. "she might have a chance. Mate might still have a chance." Orion was celebrating.

...." Mate? You can't tell me that that is why I was drawn to her before I scared her off the cliff?" I yelled at Orion.

I opened up my mind link to my beta and the pack doctor. I told them the need to know details and to get ready for her arrival. I didn't disclose that she was my mate just yet. That was for when I got her name.

I was able to get her on my back and I ran as fast as I could to the pack hospital. Being careful not to drop her along the way. Her scent was much stronger now and her blood was over powering. The smell of magic was extremely strong to the point it was tickling my nose. I finally got her to the emergency room and the doctors were ready with the gurney. They rushed her off and I was stuck waiting for news of her health. I started praying to the Goddess that she will make it through this.
