AWAKENING
~TATE'S POV~
Waking up felt like clawing my way out of a grave.
I felt a strong pain all over my body, like I was on fire. Then it got really quiet, the kind of quiet you notice after something bad happens.
I tried to move. Big mistake.
"Easy." Mathias's voice cut through the fog, his hand on my shoulder before I could even process he was there. "Don't. You have been out for three days."
Three days.
The words kept ringing in my head, and I felt scared. I pushed my eyes open, squinting at the bright light that hurt.
"Three...what happened? Where..."
"Water first. Questions later." Mathias brought a cup to my lips, his hand steady even though I could feel him shaking through the bond.
