The meeting room felt smaller after Silas's announcement. The mood went stuffy with rage and suspicion, pressing down on my shoulders until I wanted to run. But I stayed frozen in my chair, watching Mathias and Daxon transform from protective Mates into ruthless Alphas in the space of a heartbeat.
"How long has he been gone?" Mathias's voice was deadly calm, which somehow made it more terrifying.
Silas shifted his weight. "We don't know exactly. The guard who released him disabled the timestamp on the footage. But based on patrol schedules, we estimate between two and four hours."
"Two to four hours." Daxon's laugh was harsh and humorless. "He could be halfway across the state by now."
