But something felt wrong.
I stood there, staring at Heriberto's body on the temple stones. The victory cheers echoed around me, warriors celebrating, witches embracing in exhausted relief.
But I could not shake the feeling crawling up my spine.
There was something about his face. The way his lips turned up slightly... they were not completely relaxed in death, but seemed to have a hint of a smile.
"Vida," I said slowly, my voice cutting through the celebration. "Something's wrong."
The noise got quieter. The warriors looked at me. Vida, who was leaning on one of the element guardians, stood up with difficulty.
"What do you mean?" She crossed to where I stood over Heriberto's corpse. "He is dead. Marcus's bolt went straight through his heart. And even
