. . . . . . (late January)
Tia was an adorable, tousled mess by the time Gyam finally let her out of her bedroom. She had her hair up in a high ponytail to show off the beautiful mark and myriad of love bites Gyam had left all over her neck and shoulders. She giggled constantly and she and Sinah had a whispered conversation followed by more giggling.
I checked on Gyam to find him unconscious, sleeping more soundly than I had ever seen him do so. Tia's mark was on his shoulder and his face was totally relaxed. I grinned as he let off a light snore and closed the door. I pulled Tia into a quick hug and pecked her forehead.
"Gotta do that now while he's out cold." Tia giggled again. Bryce and Samuel came out of their room and Bryce butted his head against mine in greeting. Samuel huffed jealously and Sinah laughed.
"Come here Sam, everybody is getting kisses but us." Samuel scooped Sinah off the couch with a deep, rumbling chuckle. She was as little as a doll in his arms, and he planted a kiss on her cheek as I growled playfully. Kyle and Lilian stumbled into the room a few minutes later. Lilian immediately went to Tia and started whispering, which started more giggling. Kyle glanced around.
"Where is Gyam?" I chuckled and pointed at Tia's room.
"He's been marked and mated senseless." Tia blushed brightly, but all of the girls were giggling now. Bryce grinned at the girls.
"I feel like I should be with them." Samuel chuckled warmly and pulled Bryce to his chest.
"But then you wouldn't be with me, Treasure." Kyle gagged playfully and Bryce snickered. Sinah swatted him and smiled at me.
"I want to wait for Gyam to wake up before I leave the suite. I don't want him to wake up and not be right here for him to find."
"I'll go get Mom to make us breakfast and wait with you, Luna." Tia smiled. I shook my head and laughed.
"No way. This is Gyam we are talking about, neither one of you are leaving this suite until I know he won't tear the house down looking for you." I grinned at them. "You two get comfortable, I will go get Rain to send up food." Tia shifted embarrassedly.
"But I have to get to work, I have the morning shift in the kitchen today." Lilian shook her head and grinned, her tablet in her hands already.
"Nope, I gave your shift to Dale, I asked him last night and he agreed, since you are our Gamma female now." She giggled and nudged Tia. "No one in the pack wants to put him in a position to have to choose between guarding Sinah and being with you." She smiled at Tia's blushing. Kyle chuckled.
"We just built the place, can't go letting him tear it apart already." I smiled and ran my hands over Sinah's swollen belly, my cub rolling under my hands. Just a few more weeks and he'll be here. I felt a bubble of panic and bit the inside of my lip.
"Who's joining us this morning, Lil?" The soft tap of her stylus answered me, and I grinned.
"A family today. A mated pair and their five kids." I coughed.
"Five?" I did not miss Sinah's snicker. "Hush woman, I know what Selene is thinking." I shook my head. "In that case, Bryce, Samuel, I would like you both to join the run, since the cubs won't be able to shift. They can ride ATVs with you." They both nodded and Lilian's tablet chimed, and she tapped the screen several times.
"No, I said Tuesday, not Thursday. Yes, this afternoon. I don't care, make it happen." She growled at the chat window. "Sorry. Aiden, you have a meeting with Dei this afternoon to work out patrol schedules around the reservation, and Kyle, you and I have to go into town. I'll try to make sure everything is going smoothly before we leave." I nodded absently, kissing Sinah's head as our group moved to the elevator.
We paused as a growl rolled through the room and Gyam pushed the bedroom door open, blinking groggily around the room. Sinah covered a grin as he grumpily stomped over to Tia and casually tossed her over his shoulder as she giggled. He turned back towards the bedroom but stopped suddenly to give Lilian a sleepy glare. He grunted and carried his giggling mate back into the bedroom, the door clicking shut just in time to mute his lustful growl.
"I hope Rain is ready to be a grandmother." Bryce chuckled and pressed the button for the elevator door. I narrowed my eyes slightly at Tia's door and turned my attention to Lilian. She seemed normal, but I was convinced he had sensed something. What else would distract a teen wolf from his new mate?
I pulled a breath in slowly through my nose after we piled into the elevator under the pretense of yawning. Everyone smelled normal, everyone's scents mixed with their mates' scents. Lilian caught my eye, and I lifted my eyebrows at her in suspicion. She batted her eyes at me innocently as the elevator opened into the Alpha office.
She squealed and raced out of the office as I growled, dashing after her. Kyle followed, snickering.
"Woman! You tell me what you are up to right now!" I jumped over the balcony and caught her around the waist before she made it all the way to the kitchen, and she shrieked with laughter.
"YOU'LL NEVER GET ME TO TALK!" She squirmed frantically while pack members in search of breakfast milled about, laughing. Kyle tossed something suddenly to her and I was treated to a face full of whipped cream. She squeaked as I loosened my grip on her to defend myself from the sugary onslaught. I felt her slip away from me and turned my head blindly, my grin visible under the coating of cream. The kitchen wolves were starting to scold us for getting underfoot while they were cooking.
I heard her snicker, and I shook my head, flinging whipped cream everywhere. I launched after her as she screamed and ran laughing from the packhouse. I stopped at the door and hollered after her as she sprinted towards the already underway construction.
"YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE!" I chuckled and turned around to find three angry kitchen wolves armed with dishrags. "Ah..." I grinned unashamedly and accepted the rags thrust at me, returning to clean up the mess I made while the pack members smiled.
