. . . . . . (early June)
I could hear the Campus Police all but destroying the building. Gunfire and screaming provided a morbid radar for their locations, advancing swiftly, and brutally, from the sounds.
Speaking of sounds, I kept my eyes closed tightly and tried my best to not hear the activities in the room with me. I recognized the wolf when he walked into the room. How he survived my attack I have no idea, considering I'd turned him into a PEZ dispenser. He'd tried to be quiet, as Gyam had ordered, but broke into smothered, gurgling screams after a few moments. Gyam never made a noise, which was honestly more disturbing than listening to the screams shift to mewling sobs.
A wet squelch heralded an oppressive silence within the room.
"come back from that, Sir."
A moment later, I heard water running and something slammed against the wall outside the room.
"perfect timing." I heard him walk across the room and throw the bolt on the door back and a soft click let me know he opened it. "Carry your Alpha until the poison wears off." Someone walked into the room and promptly vomited.
"Gamma?"
"I said carry Aiden, not stop and chat."
"Yes, Gamma." Arms slid under my shoulders and a pair of wolves supported my weight between them as they helped me off the table. I let them mostly carry me out of the room. I refused to open my eyes until I heard the door click shut behind me.
Gyam stood in front of me, his expression unreadable, blood painting a macabre pattern across his skin. The pair supporting me looked ill and were avoiding eye contact with him.
"Whatever was in that room..." They turned their attention to me as I spoke softly, my eyes locked on Gyam's. "Will never be spoken of. Not amongst yourselves, don't even breathe about it in your sleep. That's an order, don't make me make it a command." They nodded silently and Gyam bowed submissively to me for the first time.
"Thank you, Aiden." I shook my head.
"No." He lifted his eyebrows curiously as I struggled to move my own arm to pull him close to me. "I thought I killed him. I'm so sorry." He let me hold him silently for a long moment before pulling away and facing the growing number of wolves making their way into the trashed room. The building might have been a house at one point, teetering on the edge of collapse after the Campus Police smashed through.
"Protect your Alpha, take him home." He walked away without another word.
