Chapter Twenty-three: Aiden

. . . . . . (early July)

There was a tap on the door as a warning before it opened and Bryce stomped in, followed by a laughing Lilian. A little kitchen wolf followed them with a tray loaded with food, which made Sinah's stomach rumble again. I gave her a wicked smile and she slapped my arm, blushing again.

"No! Stop that right f*****g now!" I blinked in surprise at the annoyance in Bryce's voice, since he was grinning at me. "We have been waiting TWO HOURS for you two to knock that s**t off already." Sinah's face went completely white and then rushed all the way to purple. She whimpered and flopped onto the sofa, burying her face in the cushions in mortification.

I laughed. It did not help, but at least Sinah was mad at me now, instead of embarrassed. I popped a piece of fruit from the tray into her open mouth and kissed her nose. She glared pure murder at me, fuming and chewing as I turned to Bryce and Lilian. Lilian smirked at me.

"You do know that I will help her hide your body, don't you?" I laughed and picked up a sandwich.

"I'm counting on it." I took a huge bite and sighed; I was starving. "Wah ib joo wah o ell e?" Bryce frowned at me in disapproval, and I just grinned at him around my face full of food. Lilian squealed abruptly and I choked, coughing and gasping for air.

"Serves you right for being gross." She laughed at me. "We WANTED to congratulate you for marking each other, but that was two hours ago, and I promised I would call Kyle back, and he's probably worried sick now because you two took FOREVER." Sinah was hiding in the sofa cushion again and I chuckled.

"So, give me the nutshell version and let me go back to wasting a day in the best possible way, please." Lilian grinned at Bryce, and he waved for her to take the spotlight.

"You asked for it." She took a deep breath.

"So, the Goddess decided that you two marking each other was good enough for her, so she made our pack official in her eyes and Bryce and I both got our pack symbols at the same time. Then Kyle called me because it happened to him too, which means he's officially part of the pack and I think the Goddess made me and him a mated pair, because I realized I had been able to hear his thoughts for about half an hour, right after Bryce and I realized we could mind link each other." She gasped a huge breath in, and Bryce gave her a hi5.

"f*****g brilliant, that was great."

"Thank you." They both turned their attention to me.

I was standing perfectly still, sandwich halfway back to my gaping mouth, blinking at them.

"Congratulations Lilian! I'm so happy for you!" My mate bounced off the sofa and hugged her best friend.

/:Aiden?:/ I dropped the sandwich. My fingers were completely numb. I was staring right at Bryce when his voice sounded in my mind.

/:We can mind link!:/ I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and focused. I could see Bryce's thoughts. The one thing we had never been able to share. Rhys and Mir had to pass messages between them first. I shifted my focus and Lilian's mind touched my own, followed by a huge grin from her and Sinah. I frowned and concentrated. I could feel the fifth mind, just enough to know he felt worried. I opened my eyes and stared at them, letting my breath out in a shaky laugh.

"Well, fuck... welcome to the pack, I guess." I laughed.
