. . . . . . (late July)
We've been at Desert Falcon for a week now, and I'm fairly certain living in the camper before the packhouse is finished is no longer an option. Two wolves have already asked if they could join Gypsy Moon.
Summer is a leggy blonde, half a credit from her degree in design and engineering, she proudly informed me. She'd overheard Kyle talking to the contractors and wanted the opportunity to establish herself. Her mate, Alec, was working on a teaching degree, and was very enthusiastic at the chance to help us.
The kitchen Wolf, Rain, mentioned she might ask to join as well, if her mate and their three kids agreed. Her oldest seemed very excited.
Derek called a few days ago to inform me he had several pack members asking if they would be allowed to join my pack. Sinah said her mother had called, with the same question coming from Alpha Jackson.
Frozen Crescent agreed to let Robert stay for a while longer, as Sinah has found having an example of what Gyam SHOULD look like has been incredibly beneficial in working on his recovery. Robert seemed unbothered by Gyam's refusal to use his human name, or form, just shrugged and said his wolf's name was Vezeto. They were of eastern European descent, he explained, their wolves' names translated to 'guardian' and 'leader', respectively. If being a wolf made Gyam feel Sinah was safer, then it made sense for him to be a wolf.
I trusted Gyam to protect my mate, his refusal to leave her side was adamant. I grinned at him lying at Sinah's feet as I looked over the building plans Summer had brought me. He wouldn't leave at night either. The look he gave us when we suggested he might be embarrassed by our nocturnal antics was priceless. He actually laughed for a while after he recovered from his surprise.
And then refused to leave, going so far as to lay in front of the door so it couldn't open without disturbing him. I playfully suggested I would give him an Alpha command and force him to leave, but his reaction floored me.
/:I will fight you.:/ He'd lifted his head and glared at me, growling softly. I was so impressed with his defiance, I forgot to be mad about it. He huffed in irritation and lay his head back down.
/:Fact- not bothered, concerned, or interested.:/ His tone was dark, and I felt bad for the kid. I was not about to ask him to elaborate, but Sinah blushed furiously.
"it is a little embarrassing," she offered, and he snorted.
/:You are already pregnant, the pack loses nothing.:/ His eyes closed and he refused to respond after that. It wasn't until the fourth night when he snickered as he took up his giant furry cockblock position that I caught his challenge and glared at him.
The son of a b***h had the balls to lift his head and blatantly challenge me, growling his dare. Sinah's eyes were so wide I was worried they would fall out of her head and her blush was bright enough to tint her shoulders. He even offered to 'lend a hand' and rolled his eyes at the growl that came out of me. He stood up and shifted to his human form.
"This isn't an argument I am going to back down on. Lilian and Bryce have both insisted that your room has to be soundproof. I'm sure you have an idea as to why. I am not going to be where I can't hear her heartbeat. Get used to it or don't get laid." His voice was hollow, and we stared at him in shock. Sinah stuttered.
"B-but when you find yo-" He cut her off by shifting back to his wolf and angrily slamming his side into the door, pressing against it as he forced his body to lay down. He growled and turned his face away from us.
/:She's gone. Mate or don't, your choice. Goodnight Alpha, Luna.:/
He refused to acknowledge the subject again. He also hasn't spoken since, not even through a mind link. I'm pretty sure he's mad at us for what he felt was us forcing him to talk.
Sinah finally broke down and let me sleep with her last night, and I'm not ashamed to have made up for the lost time. I was a little embarrassed to have forgotten his presence, but he scoffed at me.
/:Gold star, dumbass.:/ He yawned softly and I grinned and set my paperwork aside. Sinah looked up from her book.
"I like Summer's designs; she has a good eye." Sinah nodded.
"I like the one with the campus layout, so does Lilian." I chuckled and looked at the design in question.
"She likes it because it is about as far from a traditional packhouse as it gets." I tossed the paper aside and sent a quick link to Lilian with our decision. The fact that our suite in the complex would be the most secure area in the entire territory was a bonus. Sleek, lavish, modern, and would take a bomb to destroy. "To be honest, I'll live in a cave if I can still have her shower design." Sinah giggled.
"I'm pretty sure they designed it to encourage us to be prolific." I grinned at her.
"Because I need encouragement in that regard?" I laughed at Gyam's derisive snort. "Shut it, you. I went a whole week without my mate because of you. Besides, she has to have the FIRST pup before I can put another one in her."
Sinah smiled as I moved to her side and lay my head on her flat stomach. My pup was in there somewhere, just a dot of cells right now. I'm not sure if it's terror or love that grips my heart when I think of it. Rhys says both. He assures me I will do fine as a father, but I'm stuck on how I will explain meeting their mother.
I silently thank the Goddess for the little booger growing in my mate, running my rapidly growing pack suddenly seemed effortless compared to the idea of ACTUALLY being a parent. And Sinah and I are both special wolves. She is particularly powerful. It's likely our cubs will inherit from at least one of us.
I took a deep breath, and my eyes went black. I'm getting existential, she's getting horny. I shifted my position with a growl, noticing Gyam taking up position in front of the door so we couldn't be disturbed. I then proceeded to see exactly how loud I could get my mate to scream my name.
Repeatedly.
