Chapter Seven: Sinah

. . . . . . (late June) I think my brain exploded. I really do. It's the only possible explanation for the way I felt. My head started to feel better after a few minutes of the stabbing pain, and I was able to go back to having fun. The guy dressed like an Indian came out onto the floor a few minutes after he and the cowboy got off stage, and he made a beeline for the VIPs. The bridesmaid flock welcomed him gladly. He WAS super-hot, and I actually noticed he smelled nice, beyond the body spray and beer cloud. Like fresh air, or something. I blushed when Lilian whispered that he seemed interested in me too, and that I should buy a private dance with him. I was sorely tempted, but he seemed to melt into the crowd and vanish. Ah well, I decided I would ask if I saw him again. I picked up my soda and finished it off, smiling at Lilian who had gotten her hands on the fireman again. The fresh air smell slipped past me, and I looked into the crowd where I had seen him last. I winced at another spike of pain in my head. Goddess, why do these places have to be so loud? The fresh air smell was closer now, and movement out of the corner of my eye made me turn my head. Sun warmed clover on a cool spring breeze. That was the scent. I could practically feel the sunlight on my shoulders, as my eyes locked onto the greenest eyes I had ever seen. Someone squealed, it might have been Lilian. I didn't care. I was looking into the eyes of the most beautiful man I had ever seen. I could feel the muscles in my face give up and my mouth fell open into a silent 'o'. And that's when I think my brain exploded. Everything went black. I was floating in darkness and pain, it felt like I was being torn apart, dying alone in a black pit. /:Not alone.:/ The voice in my mind came with a soft golden glow in the darkness and a giant golden wolf coalesced in my mind. The pain faded as I felt him looking at me, his head cöcked in question. I wondered if this could be my wolf somehow. /:No. I am Rhys, where is my mate?:/ The memories shot to the surface of my mind, and it felt like I was watching a television show about my own life, while the golden wolf watched as the accident played out in my mind. /:She was lost... it was an accident.:/ The wolf considered the memories a few more minutes before shaking his head. /:She WAS lost.:/ His voice sounded curious. /:But she's NOT lost, we found you. But where is she?:/ His head tilted comically from one side to the other as he hummed. His attention focused away from me and he stood up. /:Excuse me, won't you?:/ He faded abruptly from my mind, and I felt... more solid. I could feel a hard table under me and a cold cloth on my head. The room we were in was quiet, I could only pick up three voices, Lilian and two men. Lilian sounded excited; the guys were trying to calm her down. I opened my eyes to the grass green eyes of the guy dressed like a cowboy. A cowboy sculpted by angels that smelled like the most beautiful spring day I could remember. His whisper was low enough that Lilian couldn't hear him. "I'm Aiden Marcus Soleis, of the River Talon Alphas." Goddess, how can a man's voice sound so sexy? "I've been looking for you for a long time." His eyes clouded briefly, and he blinked. "You don't have a wolf?" . . . . . .
