None of the warriors had ever been in active combat, and although we were too late, the aftermath of the m******e we had just witnessed was enough to make everyone understand the gravity of the situation.
The men, covered in the blood of the dead and injured, dirt, and debris all looked a little shellshocked. We had always trained hard, having never taken our peace for granted, but seeing the reality of being attacked was as sobering for them as it was for me.
