Katia held Rose's ownership papers as she walked back to her room, already thinking about what she had to do before tomorrow's departure.
When she pushed open her door, she stopped short.
The room looked like someone had trashed it. Drawers hung open, stuff scattered across the floor. The mattress had been pulled off the bed frame. Even the curtains hung crooked, as if someone had yanked them angrily.
"Miss Katia, you're back!" Dalia rushed forward, looking worried. "Where did you go? Alpha Xandar came looking for you. When he found you weren't here, he..." She gestured helplessly at the destruction. "He trashed half the room when he got mad before leaving again."
Katia's stomach dropped.
Tomorrow. We leave for Central City tomorrow. Whatever Xandar wanted, it wasn't good.
