Cahir's expression wavered for a moment.
"You know what's most pathetic?" He stood up, looking down at her. "I'm not even sure if I want to believe you."
He walked behind her, hands falling on her shoulders.
"Because if what you're saying is true," his voice whispered in her ear, "then that means my brother is a r****t. It means the person I trust betrayed me. It means everything I did to you—"
He paused.
"Was wrong."
Katia closed her eyes. She heard the struggle in Cahir's voice, that doubt he didn't want to admit.
But she also knew it wasn't enough.
"Whether you believe me or not," she said softly, "the truth is the truth."
Cahir didn't answer.
His hands slid to her waist, pulling her up, turning and pressing her onto the bed.
