Chapter 82 Aurora sat in the corner of the same room they’d all watched the footage in earlier, but now the projector was off and the silence around her was so loud it made her head feel heavy. Her hands were buried deep inside her sleeves again, gripping the fabric so tightly her nails dug into her own skin. The images kept replaying in her head even though her eyes were closed. His face. The way he moved like he had done it a hundred times before. Like it wasn’t a big deal. Like Rowan’s life meant nothing. Like her feelings meant nothing. She was doing her best not to cry now and was starting to feel numb due to that. Her legs were tucked under her, her knees pulled to her chest, like curling into herself would somehow slow everything down. Her thoughts were all over the place.
