“How are we going to do this?” asked Amber out loud but for her own ears. “Kickass and take numbers,” answered Davis. “Silly. They have the numbers,” remarked Amber. Amber leaned on the steering wheel and rubbed her chin. “Light bulb. Roadkill,” said Amber. “Speed bumps. Let’s do it,” stated Davis with a gigantic grin. “Let’s start the party,” declared Amber. Amber stomped on the pedal, making the tires squeal and headed for the handicap ramp. Everyone bounced in their seats as the vehicle struck the sidewalk. The SUV barreled down the walkway, mowing the zombies over that came toward them. Amber gunned the engine then beeped the vehicle's horn while the zombies looked in their direction, and they stepped away from the doorway. The SUV hit some zombies with a thud, and a few of them clawed at the hood, so they weren’t run over. The back window went down, then Davis screamed, “Here, zombie! Zombie! Zombie.” A zombie leaned away from the rest, c****d his head, and sneered at them. The zombie turned facing them, then growled and held his hands up. After he reacted, additional zombies' attention was placed on the group. “Hang on,” remarked Amber, then positioned the gear shifter on the letter R and gunned the engine. When Amber was finished, she backed the SUV around the corner in the alley. Amber glanced at Davis and stated, “Let’s finish this dance.” “Let’s dance,” retorted Davis as they opened the doors. The group walked up behind the few zombies that were still alive. “I want to check something out,” indicated Amber and bolts flew landing in the backs of the zombie’s. “Didn’t kill them,” conveyed Joseph. “I swear I hit their hearts,” said Amber. “They need more damage inflicted on them,” stated Joseph. “Headshot or back of the neck?” asked Amber. “Neck, sever the spine,” answered Joseph. “That would be for the best. The greatest damage we could do,” verbalized Amber. “Cut the heads off,” expressed Davis. “You would come up with that one,” laughed Amber. “You will always love me,” remarked Davis. “I have to. You’re my kid,” retorted Amber. “That wasn’t nice,” pouted Davis. “No. It was funny,” snickered Amber. Davis slammed against Amber and said, “I know you love me.” “Yes, Davis. I love you,” whispered Amber as they hugged. “Let’s get this over,” uttered Joseph. Immediately Joseph slammed his weapon against a zombie’s head that turned for them. A bolt whizzed through the air connecting in the nape of the zombie’s neck, and it fell. They finished off the last of the zombies within moments. Amber held a hand above her eyes while she peered inside the door's window. “I don’t see anything,” reported Amber. “Try the door,” said Davis. “Already did. It’s locked,” conveyed Amber. “Break a pane,” commanded Joseph. Without hesitation, Amber broke a pane out of the door and reached carefully inside. The door quietly opened, and she scanned the interior of the bar. “The coast is clear,” announced Amber. “I thought you said it was clear,” remarked Davis, “It is. The zombies are dead,” retorted Amber. As they walked around the dead bodies, the jukebox played a loud rock song. Davis and Joseph ran for the jukebox. Joseph pulled the jukebox while Davis grabbed the plug. “Thanks,” said Amber. “You’re welcome,” responded Davis and Joseph. Alexandria and Amber ambled over for the kitchen door. The door instantly struck Alexandria, knocking her against Amber, and Davis caught his mother. “Stop. It’s Alex,” stated Alexandria. “You alright, mom?” asked Davis. “Yes,” answered Amber. A muscled bald-headed man strolled from the kitchen, immediately grabbing and hugging Alexandria. “I thought I would never see you again,” said Alexandria. “I thought the same, my queen,” acknowledged Aidan. While the lovers held each other, Amber and Davis slowly looked at each other. Amber smiled then held an eyebrow up. They both fought the laughter that was in their belly. “What are you two snickering about?” asked Joseph in a hushed voice. “It’s funny how much he looks like Alex’s crush,” answered Davis. “It’s amazing how much Aidan looks like Mark,” remarked Amber. “I know you need to get over it. They’ve been together for 6 months,” stated Joseph. “He even has the deep voice,” whispered Amber. “Yes. He does,” replied Joseph. Meanwhile, the two lovers were still intertwined in each other’s arms while Aidan softly caressed Alexandria’s cheek. “I’m sorry you had to go through that without me,” conveyed Aidan. “It’s alright,” responded Alexandria. “I’m surprised you didn’t try to get home,” declared Amber. “We did. The owner got hurt when we tried leaving,” responded Aidan. “How long ago? Did he get bit?” probed Amber. “Fifteen minutes. I think,” answered Aidan. The terror was written across their faces, then Amber said, “That isn’t good. Let me see him.” “Alright. This way,” related Aidan. “After we deal with your boss, we must leave. Zombies will come,” remarked Amber. As they strolled for the kitchen, Amber assured, “None of us knew when we woke up there would be a zombie apocalypse.” “I know. I still feel bad. I left her,” expressed Aidan. “Good. It means you’ll fight for her,” remarked Amber. “I’ll fight for all of us,” stated Aidan. When they entered the kitchen, two women greeted them with no warning. Amber instantly raised her crossbow as Aidan hit it, the bolt struck the wall above the women’s heads. “Are you trying to get yourself killed?” asked Amber. “No,” replied the younger woman in a childish voice with a pout while she swayed her torso back and forth. “This is Shirley and Emilie. The bar owner is Moe,” introduced Aidan. “Do any of you know how to shot a gun?” asked Amber. “Just our boss,” answered Aidan. “Oh,” uttered Amber with a loud exhale. Shirley immediately rubbed against Aidan as a broad grin played across her face. Amber’s eyebrow arched as she watched the rude display. “I have a farm. If you wish and you listen to the rules, you can go,” stated Amber to Emilie. “Thank you. I will help out as much as I can,” replied Emilie. “I’m glad for all the men. I feel protected,” remarked Shirley. “You will stop treating the men as if they’re your play toys,” declared Amber. Amber stepped toward Shirley, then demanded, “The only men here you can flirt with are Davis, Ray, and Derrick. Leave the rest alone.” “Thanks, mom. She was going to get her ass kicked,” declared Alexandria. “You’re welcome. Now we check Moe,” announced Amber. Aidan strolled over to the pantry, and Amber was right behind him. With scrutinizing eyes, Amber scanned Moe. “Aidan,” whispered Amber. Aidan stooped beside Amber and asked, “What?” “He’s turning, his eyes, the foam, and the convulsions,” answered Amber. “He has to be killed?” questioned Aidan. “Yes,” responded Amber. “You have them leave the kitchen, and I’ll take care of Moe,” related Amber. “No. I’ll kill him,” stated Aidan. “I’ll have them leave. Sever the spinal cord at the base of his skull,” conveyed Amber. As soon as Amber is in the kitchen, she directed everyone toward the door. “I should help Aidan,” said Alexandria. “No. Aidan has to do it on his own,” declared Amber. “I’m sorry. Farewell, my friend,” whispered Aidan. With a heavy heart, Aidan plunged the knife Amber gave him in Moe’s neck ending him from turning into a zombie. Everyone turned as Aidan ambled into the bar. Aidan wrapped his arms around Alexandria. “It’s done,” stated Aidan. “I’m sorry. It’s the state of the world,” conveyed Amber. “Want something to drink?” asked Aidan. “How about a white zombie,” retorted Amber. “Smartass,” expressed Aidan. “You got it,” remarked Amber. “I don’t get it,” muttered Shirley. “Really. It’s a joke,” said Amber with a raise of the brow.  “I just don’t understand,” disclosed Shirley. “You never will. Shut-up,” demanded Amber. Shirley finally grew quiet after Amber’s comment. “With that done, we need to leave,” stated Amber. “It’s growing dark,” related Davis. “We have zombies outside,” reported Joseph. “I’m not surprised other zombies are coming out. It’s what a predator does in the wild,” verbalized Amber.  “What are we going to do,” uttered Ray the panic raised in his voice. “Stay calm,” conveyed Amber. “What are we going to do?” questioned Joseph. “Move the jukebox toward the middle of the floor. We’ll make a circle of the furniture. Pour alcohol over the circle into the kitchen and catch it on fire. Finally, we’ll make our escape,” responded Amber. “How do we know when to start the fire?” asked Joseph. “I’ll plug the jukebox in,” answered Amber. They all organized the room the way Amber had ordered. “Go hide,” demanded Amber. “Be safe,” said Aidan, right before he shut the door. Immediately Amber carried two stools for the end of the bar. Amber positioned a seat on each side of the counter and smiled. After they were steady, Amber climbed across the countertop. With great care, Amber made her way to the door and opened it cautiously. Amber kept a wary eye on the doorway as she crawled over the countertop. When Amber was on the opposite side, she crouched down and crawled for the cord of the jukebox. As Amber’s head peered around the bar, her fingers wrapped around a ball and tossed it toward the doorway. Soon growls grew closer toward the interior of the bar, and Amber rolled another ball. When Amber’s eyes caught sight of the first zombie, she hid behind the counter. Rolling several additional balls in different directions, making them bounce off objects and each other. After the ring had several zombies inside it, Amber plugged the jukebox in. Amber’s finger slid over keys and pressed them, then it played a song about a ring of fire. Fire lurched out from under the kitchen door, then they surrounded the zombies, cutting them off. “Run for it!” exclaimed Amber as she stood. “Damn. He’s a maniac,” declared Amber to herself as a massive zombie ran through the fire. Immediately Amber ran toward the stools and safety. When Amber felt the flames and fingers reaching for her, she bent her back. As Amber bent over backward, she pulled out a machete connecting it into the male’s upper throat. The burning zombie stopped chasing Amber, and she ran for the door. While Amber ran out the door, she closed it behind her, trapping the zombies inside. Amber waved Derrick toward the alley. “Stay here. I’ll have Joseph back the SUV up,” requested Amber. Derrick stopped right before the alley as Amber walked for the side exit. “How was your trip?” asked Aidan. “Had a hot zombie chasing me,” answered Amber. “Burning zombie. Weird,” remarked Aidan. “Shirley and Emilie can ride with Derrick,” ordered Amber. “We should back up some. The SUV is close to the other building,” conveyed Aidan. “True,” said Amber. As Amber waited for them, a cold chill shook her body. Amber scanned the alley behind her, then walked toward a different road. Amber glanced down both sides of the small street then back at the group. After Amber looked at her group, she walked around the opposite building. As Amber’s body shook with another chill, she heard a low guttural growl. As soon as Amber saw the flash, a hand was on her mouth. Instantly Amber’s feet were levitated off the ground. Immediately Amber felt the warmth from his body that towered over her.
