I awoke to the sun shining in through my balcony window, warming the side of my face and the dead weight of Nathanael, who had me in a tight hold. I wriggled around trying to loosen his grip but the more I wriggled, the tighter his grip grew, as well as his p***s, which was poking into my side. I tried to escape his hold for what felt like five minutes before huffing in defeat. I had made my mind up that I would focus on finding the witch today and wanted to make an early start. The longer I spent here, the harder it was going to be to leave. However, getting out of this bed alone seemed to be harder than I anticipated.
I managed to turn my body around so that I was facing Nathanael. I watched him as he slept. He looked so much younger when he didn't have the weight of the Skulk on his shoulders which he wore on his face. I studied every line, mark, groove of his face trying to commit it to my long term memory, knowing that soon, all that I would have of him was my memories.
I knew that I shouldn't, but I couldn't help but lean in to kiss his lips softly. As I was about to pull away, he pulled me in even tighter and he kissed me back. Releasing me from his tight grip, he held onto my chin, gently keeping me in place so that I couldn't back away.
"Morning beautiful," he whispered. "How about we put a 'do not disturb' note on your door and barricade it shut? We could spend the whole day and night in bed. I wonder how many times I can make you orgasm?' he asked jokingly.
I huffed in mock disapproval, "as tempting as that may sound, we have duties to attend to and I would rather not face the wrath of Maxim."
He sat up, pulling me up with him, "well, in case you have forgotten, I am the son of the leader so I am sure I could convince Maxim into giving us a day off."
I rolled my eyes at Nathanael and asked, "why don't you call him dad? Even as kids you would call him Maxim. "
He swooped his hair from away his eyes and shrugged his shoulders before answering, "he is the leader of the Skulk and leaders can't show any weaknesses, that includes family members. Although we all know that I am his son, outsiders wouldn't. I suppose that is his way of protecting me."
I nodded, "that makes sense. Now do you think that you could release me so that I can get up and wee." Nathanael pulled me in, kissed my head and then let me go. As I got up, he swung his legs around and stealthily got up from the bed, grabbing his clothes from the floor while I went to have a shower.
Nathanael stood in the doorway watching me. I turned to look at him and saw an intensity in his eyes. It seemed to reach down to my soul, begging me not to leave. He broke the silence, "what are your plans for today?"
I hesitated for a second, "...well I still have to fulfil Maxim's orders so I will probably walk around town and see what I can pick up."
"I don't think that it's a good idea. We don't know enough about the wolves" he insisted.
I turned off the shower and stepped out while he held out a towel for me, "seriously? I thought we spoke about this. I d....."
"Don't need a knight in shining armour," he interrupted, "I know. Just be careful and call me if you need anything."
Nathanael held up his hands in defeat. "I have to go and check in with Maxim. Can I join you again tonight?"
"Sure," I lied.
As soon as Nathanael left my room I knelt on the floor, head spinning. What the hell was I doing. I have lead him on again. Now he thinks that we are going to play happy families again and it was my fault. I pulled myself up, grabbed a black pair of jeans and black t-shirt, pairing them with some black ankle boots and I put them on, fixing my hair in a messy bun. I walked over to my bed, pulling out my chest from under it searching for the information that I had scribbled down about the witch. I folded the paper and slid it into my pocket along with my phone. As I walked out of my room, I came face to face with Steven with an "oof."
"What's wrong sweetheart, did I scare you," he mocked.
I looked up at him in disgust, "f**k off Steven, I have no time for your crap today," I said, pushing him to the side. He protested, swearing at me as I walked past him and continued his way in the other direction.
At the end of the corridor, a tall slender, blonde figure stood in front of the floor to ceiling window. Sun shining behind him making him look celestial. I gasped and screeched while running straight to him. A big, welcoming smile was plastered on his face as he picked me up in a bear hug. Noah and his father were well respected members of the Skulk. His father, Oliver, was one of Maxim's closest friends and advisers. He was also one of our strongest fighters, bar Nathanael and Maxim. Noah had grown up at the mansion with Nathanael but left, just before I arrived, to establish a Skulk in Finland. Noah would visit every winter but his dad would only come if there was something serious going on.
Although being the same age as me, Noah treated me like a younger sister. From our very first meeting, he made his mind up that he was going to protect me and since then, he always had my back, even taking my side over Nathanael's.
“Hello Peanut, I missed you,” he said, while squeezing the air out me. He put me down in front of him, examining me. “Well you have filled out nicely.”
I punched his arm laughing, “Are you saying that I have grown fat?”
He held his hands out in front of him, “no, no, I did not say that, I was trying to say that you have, you know,” he said while motioning an hour glass with his hands, “filled out nicely.”
I laughed and hugged him again. Noah put his arm around my shoulder as we walked down the wing stairs. “When did you arrive?” I asked.
He chuckled, “well, I arrived last night. I came to see you in your room but I could hear that you were otherwise engaged.” I could feel my cheeks burn up and I was sure that my face had grown red. “Are you and Nate back together now?” he continued.
I avoided eye contact, looking down at the floor, “No…..it…..was a mistake.”
He stopped at the bottom of the stairs, turning me around, he held my chin so that I made eye contact with him, “you and Nate can never be a mistake. You two are meant for each other. I know that you are in a shitty situation.” He hushed his voice in case anyone was listening, “I know why you haven’t told Nate about what his dad said to you but Maxim would come around eventually, the whole Skulk would.
I scoffed, “I doubt that very much. I have no lineage, no status here, apart from being Maxim’s good deed.”
Noah ruffled my hair as if I were his pet dog and I swatted his hand away before running to the back door, “want to go for a run?” I shouted while pulling my shoes off. A mischievous look spread across Noah’s face, “Hell yeah!” He shouted while running straight passed, throwing his shirt over my head.
