Days turned into weeks, and Lila found herself in a constant state of turmoil. She continued to see Lucas, the chemistry between them undeniable, yet each moment with him felt like a betrayal of the love she had shared with Ethan. One evening, after another passionate conversation with Lucas, Lila found herself walking along the beach, her thoughts clouded with uncertainty. She stopped at the same spot where she had talked to Ethan weeks ago. The waves crashed against the rocks, and the cool night air filled her lungs. She closed her eyes, trying to find clarity, but all she could hear was the echo of Lucas’s words—“You deserve to be happy, Lila.”

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to find Ethan, his face weary and worn, his eyes searching hers.

“I’m done, Lila,” he said quietly, his voice strained with emotion. “I’ve given you the space you asked for, but I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep waiting for you to choose. I love you, but I can’t keep living in this uncertainty.”

Lila’s heart dropped. This was it. The moment she had been avoiding.

“I… I’m sorry,” she whispered, the tears welling up in her eyes. “I never meant for it to be like this.”

Ethan stepped closer, his eyes filled with pain. “I know you didn’t, but I can’t keep being here if you’re not sure. I’m not asking for perfection, Lila, but I need you to choose. Either I’m your home, or he is. I can’t keep fighting for you when your heart isn’t fully here.”

Lila felt the weight of his words crush her. She had to make a choice. And it wasn’t going to be easy.
