Today is gonna be the day. I've been trapped in this hellhole for going on two weeks now. They've beaten me, burned me, craved me flesh, all in the hopes for tears. To their disappoint, I don't cry over stupid s**t. I shed my last tear 8 years because of these bastards, they get no more emotion from me.
My wolf moans, "Can we just bust out already?! Dammit b***h I wanna run free again! Its been too long."
I roll my eyes, "Noel, if you wanted out sooooooo bad, why not force the shift? There was nothing stopping you before."
Silence. Yeah, that's what I thought. I chuckle to myself. Noel is all talk when I'm two-legged. but when I'm in wolf form, it's all action all the time. I snap back to reality when I feel a whip crack across my back. I clench my teeth and stifle a scream. Wicked laughter fills the air. A laugh that forever haunts her dreams...
"ALYS!! Go fetch your brother!! It's almost time for the celebrations," My mother screamed from the deck of the pack house. I turned and gave her a thumbs up and head out into the fields not too far from the house where my brother would like to hide. Acelin was laying down looking up at the sky, gazing dreamily up at the clouds passing by. My twin was always the carefree one of us two but he never said no to me. As I searched the fields for him, screaming his name, I saw his head out of the field like a daisy. I couldn't help but laugh at him.
"What? I was just starting to get comfy?" Acelin complained, almost pouting.
"Do you wanna be late to our own celebration?" I returned.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPP "Well, what are we waiting for?" Next thing I knew, Acelin was standing right next me. Typical him, motivated by food. As we walked back to the pack house, we heard a blood curdling screaming. We ducked behind a tree and moved quietly forward to see what was going. Fear began pulsing through my body. What was going on? Where was Dad? Mom? The pack? And who in the world would attack us? Our pack was small and pretty much unknown to the outside world. We mostly kept to ourselves due the rarity our family holds. We're the Silver Mane Pack, for all the wolves here have silver or snow white fur. And living in the mountains deep in the Colorado Mountain chain, it's a nifty camouflage. We were at peace with a lot of the local packs, I even played with a lot of the other kids. But who would be willing to break our alliance, and today of days?!
As Acelin and I crept closer to the pack house, doing well to stay out of sight, we gasped in horror at the scene we had arrived at. There, on the deck, laid one of our elders, my grandmother, slaughtered. I stifled my tears because I knew anyone could be lurking. My twin pulled my head into his chest in an attempt to wipe the display from my memory. We inched closer and closer, soon we were inside, stepping over body after body of our beloved pack, our family. Murdered in cold blood. But why??? I saw the front door wide open and I could smell my parents. Apparently so could Acelin. He beat me to the door and screamed.
Right on his heels, I went to push him out of the way and I saw him lifted into the air by a man, covered in blood, and grinning like a mad hyena. I ducked back into the doorway just in time. I looked down to see my beloved parents, the respected Alpha and Luna, dead. Slashed across the neck, from ear to ear. And I watched in horror as the bloodied man held my brother far above the ground.
"Ahhh! I seem to have finally found you. The last living heir of the Silver Mane Pack. I've dreamed of this day to finally annilate you. And now, my dream is fulfilled."
And he twisted Acelin's neck until I heard the snap, telling me he was dead. I wailed and revealed my hiding place. The man turned and saw me, and just by my eyes he knew he had miscalculated. With that misstep, I took off out the back door and transformed. Noel, my wolf, with the intense green eyes took me as far away as we could run and completely out of sight......
Until now...….
