Ch. 4

1200 Words
Knox returns to the room and is surprised at my position. "Oh, not so innocent after all. Are we?" He smiles crookedly. His eyes full of hunger.     I snicker, "Hmm wouldn't you like to know?"     "You know, I usually prefer my slaves submissive or resistant. But there is something about you that is setting something on fire within me."     s**t. This dude better NOT be my mate.     NOEL!!!!!      "Chill b***h. He aint it. Trust me. I'd kill us first."     Oh thank God. That was a close call. Almost lost my head there. If he would've been my mate, I literally would've killed myself.      I hear a low growl and it snaps me back to reality when I see the f**k face moving back around the bed. He grabs the leash, still attached to the collar, sadly still around my neck, and drags me forward. I yip to keep up the act.     "I like your fire only because I get to be the one who puts it out," Knox whispers in my eat before forcing his face against mine.     Don't throw up. please DONT THROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!  i'm trying to pull away so I can work my magic. I finally am able to break free, stand up straight on my knees on the bed, equal eye level with the savage. Knox tilts his head, eyes full of lust and wonder.     "Oh? Does the little wolf want to shake things up?" He challenges.     b***h please. I'm about to f**k your day.     As soon as I started to mooove evvvver so closer, the alarms ring out louder than fireworks on Labor day.     "WHAT THE f**k IS GOING ON!?!?!?" Knox tries to pull away and see the commotion. He never realized I shifted my hands into my paws and have quite the tight grip on his neck.     He turns back and realizes i'm still holding on. "What the---" s***h!!!!!!!!!!! I swipe my free claw across his eyes, with a nail tagging the left one as I went by.     Blood curling screams erupt from Knox's mouth, "MY EYES!!!!!! I CANT f*****g SEE!!!!!!!"     I burst out the door and shifted for the first time in weeks, my sliver fur glimmers, my piercing lime green eyes full of determination. I see Lyla being cornered by Nolan the Butcher. I sprint over to her, leaping and bounding over the startled wild rogues confused on what's occurring around them.     "You stupid little w***e. Didn't you learn last time? There is no leaving, unless in a body bag," Nolan creeps closer to her. Lyla is terrified until she sees me. Then her face turns into awe. Nolan turns around riiiiiiight when I smash into him. I end up standing on his back, face deep in the mud.     I mind link, "Get on if you wanna live!!"     Lyla, still stunned, nods and climbs on. "The others. They're dead. As soon as I sounded the alarm, they were slaughtered. I killed them..."     As I run across the compound, I can hear her sobbing silently. Her guilt is killing her, but how could she have known it would've happen. "Lyla, there's no way you could've known. theres nothing you can do now, and crying isn't going to solve it either."     When I reached the edges, I took off like a bullet freshly fired. When we're finally far enough away, I stop and rest. When I shift back, Lyla's still crying. I wrap her in a hug, "Just because the others are gone doesn't mean you shouldn't live. You have a second chance--"     Midsentence, I feel Lyla go limp. I look over, she's been hit with wolfsbane. Lyla died in my arms. I lay her down and scan the horizon for the rogues, or even worse, hunters hired by them. 200 meters out I see the glint of a gun. I shift and take off like a bullet once again and I didn't stop until I physically move anymore.     I collapsed on the ground near a tree on the edge of a grove. I woke up with the sun peaking into my eyes, the dawn after my escape. I notice a hiking trail and follow it and discover a small town, literally settled in the middle of nowhere. Or what I thought was nowhere. Walking into to town, I noticed a souvenir shop and finally discover where I collapsed. Fuita, Colorado. This is actually a thing? Well f**k it. It'll do for now, at least give me time to recuperate and plan my next move.      As I wonder Fruita, I notice a little coffee shop with a "HELP WANTED" sign in the window.      Noel. 2 months tops for a hide out.     "Honestly, I don't sense another wolf."     How far away?     "that's the thing. Literally nowhere near by. It's just us. It's an all human town here. we're finally safe."     I'm dumbfounded. No wolf with 200 miles? I've never experienced this sense of solitude. NEVER. Noel's right, we're finally safe. AT least for a while.     I walk into the coffee shop scanning the counter for someone to talk to. GOD it smells heavenly in here. my stomach rumbles. I forgot I haven't eaten since.... well Lyla. My heart sinks, she was so innocent in all of this. Kidnapped, r***d and forced to be a s*x slave to a vicious pack. When she's finally free, she's murdered before she can even experience it.      I shake my head and focus. I see a shadow dart across my eye. I follow it and spot an older lady behind the counter, restocking what looks like fresh chocolate cookies. YUM!!      I waltz up the counter, realizing I look like a bum, f**k it, I try and get the woman's attention.     "Excuse me? Ma'am? I was wondering about the sign in the window?" I ask sincerely with a smile.     She returns my smile, "You lookin for work, little missy? You look no more than 16 years old?"     "Well that's how old I am. I'm not gonna lie to you, I just got to town, I haven't eaten in 4 days, i'm trying to get adjusted to some kind of normalcy and I thought a job could help. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to have the hep."     The woman looks me up and down, then smiles again, "I'm Agnes McGee. Call me Aggie. I have an apartment above the shop my kids used to stay in before they started their own lives. As long as you enroll in school and help here as much as you can, I won't charge you rent. BUT I expect respect and manners when you're running the shop. Deal?"     I literally burst into tears for joy. I shake my head yes, unable to speak.     "Now there there, little one. No need to cry. I'm jjst helping someone who reminds me of me. You were honest with me and that shows character," she comes around the counter and wraps me in a hug. "Now what's your name angel?"     I return the hug and squeeze a bit. She reminds me of my mom, and this is the most kindness I've felt in years. I wipe my tears and stand proud, "My name Alys Chance. And i'm eternally grateful for your generosity."
