"Oh my God! baby are you okay?"
Mom rushed forward and hugged me immediately I stepped through the door.
"Why are you late and you were also not answering my calls."
"You got me freaking out."
"I'm sorry mom, I saw a girl who was being harassed and I couldn't just leave her there."
"I had to help her and take her home because she was very shaken so I I took her home."
I explained.
"Are you hurt?"
She started giving me "a full body check-up" to make sure I wasn't hurt.
"Relax mom, I'm perfectly fine, nothing happened to me."
I said with a smile.
"Is the girl okay now?"
"Yeah, she is fine."
I said.
"Good to know she's."
"Have you had dinner yet?"
"Come over and sit down, I will have the kitchen microwave your food for you now."
She said, turning to head into the kitchen but stopped her by grabbing her right hand making her stop to look at me.
"I'm not hungry mom."
I said.
"How can you not be hungry when you haven't had dinner yet?"
She said, concern etched on her beautiful face.
"Oh I had dinner with Lily at the school cafeteria before I came back."
I lied to her.
"But if I don't have any hearing issues which I know I don't, you said you went to drop off the girl you helped before coming home right?"
"Yes yes I did."
"I mean I... I... I h...had dinner with Lily before I went to drop the girl, yes I did."
I stuttered
"You know you are terrible at lying right?"
"Especially when you try lying to me."
I realized I couldn't convince mom so I turned to daddy for help but instead, I met a set of white teeth and an angelic face twisted with laughter.
Instead of saying something to save me from the " brewing storm" daddy was laughing at me instead.
"Don't bother counting on daddy for help because your daddy cannot save you."
"Infact, he is also joining you for dinner because he just got back."
"But I already told you that I had dinner with some clients before I came back."
He said, looking at mom pitifully.
"Don't be stubborn, stay put right here, your food will be ready in a jiffy."
Mom said and walked towards the kitchen.
"Why is your mother always bullying me like this."
He started complaining to me, pretending to wipe fake tears from his the corner of his eyes with a tissue.
"I thought I saw you laughing just now right?"
I winked at him playfully.
"Oh holy goodness!"
I screamed with my mouth opened agape.
"If my guess is correct, you thought I was the only one who was going to "suffer" right?"
"Oh dear father, we are in this together you know."
I winked at him again.
"Are you sure this is my daughter?"
"Don't worry I'm Evana Melvins, the dear daughter and only princess of Mr. James Melvins."
I said and headed upstairs to my room for a shower.
