Chapter 36

733 Words

Thirty-Six Henna c****d her rifle again and fired a second shot. This shot connected with a shoulder, ripping through the protective layer of his tactical gear. His grip on the woman faltered and she hit the dirt, still cradling her baby to her chest. The man trying to protect her fell too, protecting them both with his body. Joanna’s soldiers sprang into action then, pulling taser batons from their body armor and activating the charge. They struck the knees, elbows, wrists of Khan’s men, rendering most of them immobile in a single blow. Wrists and ankles were cuffed on the spot. Henna was out in the open now, firing shots at Khan. “What are you doing?” Grace asked. “You’ll kill him.” “That’s the idea. Kill the one giving the orders and the fighting stops.” Henna reloaded her rifle.
