The Meeting

The move had happened in an instant, seven wolves packed in two trucks, a moving one not to far from where they were headed too. Green was all her eyes could make out, for miles and miles on out, extending past where she couldn’t see, she was sure that there was green there too. They weren’t headed too far from where they were, passing the border from Canada greeting them was the solemn and blue hued state of Washington. Rolling the window down slightly she lets the humid air flap in slightly, the rest of the passengers not making much of a fuss as they continue to go about what they had been doing. Driving had been Aki, his green eyes had been focused on the road for who knows how long, poor him he could have been tired but wouldn’t have complained a single time. On the passenger side resided Lucifer, his eyes closed him and Aki had already been to the house; upon explaining that there was a nearby pack and they had gone to ask for permission to be on their land with the promise that they wouldn’t disturb them nor let themselves be known. He had come back from the trip exhausted as to the many questions that had been asked. He very easily could have moved in without letting them know that they were there and yet he still wanted to keep things formal, there was no need to raise anymore suspicions then they already were. Faith sat next to Evelina, both girls had been more or less silent one sleeping and the other silently breathing their way through the ride. She felt…entrapped, being in Washington made her slightly light headed, made an anticipation form at the bottom of her stomach. What she would find in this state was beyond her and yet something about being here kept her on the edge of her toes; the beautiful scenery didn’t help calm her in fact it was just worse for her she could feel something in the woods, something watching them…watching her. What it was, she wasn’t sure but she knew danger followed whatever was in those woods…a whole lot of it. “What do you think about school?” Jumping up she turns to the source of sound, tired red eyes peeking at her from between the seats. She shakes her head, she hadn’t had much of an education back at the Blood Moon pack, why would they waste such efforts on her. Even a fifth grader could figure out a math problem much quicker then her, which soon became a problem with them. She could comprehend and write down sentences, but to evaluate the girl—she didn’t have more then a middle schoolers knowledge, and that was at sixteen years old. She couldn’t be bothered with embarrassing herself in a high school with little to no acknowledgement to her and her surroundings. She wouldn’t be bothered by it, she dismisses the conversation, turning her eyes away from his own back to the trees. She had been silent the entire time they had been packing, merely watching with a silent look as they loaded the car, leaving the house she had been harboring in for two months already heading towards a new house. She could have protested, could have told that she wouldn’t go, she would stay there even if she had to fight tooth a nail with them and force them to stay with her. But with what authority? Surely not the one that Lucifer possessed, she wasn’t their Alpha yet, hadn’t gained their trust as their Alpha yet, so who was she to demand that they stay? So she had been pliant, allowing Lucifer to pack them all up and move once more to a different area in which they could all settle in fully and teach the girl. Lucifer eyes shifted with concern, the silentness of the girl was none the less concerning to the three; they would have expected a protest, maybe for her to cry, but her silence terrifies them all the more, who knows what was going on in that little head, though they hoped that it wasn’t anything too dangerous. They had planned to move as to distance themselves from the drama that had unfortunately come about with the past months events, the Canadian packs had grown weary, more people patrolling all parts of the woods and cities searching for the demonic beings that had turned up after being quiet for so long. They had planned to stay, they could lay low for a couple of weeks before it died down and they were able to roam around once more. Though it had all gone through hell the second they saw not one but two wolfs sniffing near their house, no enchantment could ever rid a smell of a place and they soon had realized it the second the two wolves paused, their heavy pause digging, searching for the source of the smell. Lucifer realized that it was too dangerous, they needed to leave before they were discovered, he wouldn’t have anyone dying after already loosing one. He just couldn’t have it. It would be a nice change of scenery he silently contemplates, watching as the car makes a right turn into a street engulfed in green, not far up ahead a house makes itself known. The modern complex wasn’t an easy find, the beautiful three story house had an open area to it, many windows leaving the interior open for people to see. They park near the cobblestones the three trucks all unloading many bodies, all eager to stretch their giant limbs after multiple hours of confinement. Eve got out soon after, her eyes viewing the building up and down, it was beautiful, that she was sure off. But…something felt off, she felt..surrounded. Looking towards the trees she feels a shiver reach down her spine, it could have been the new change in the area, but something was lurking there, almost as if it had been waiting for her. She was thrown off her thoughts as a box is pushed into her hands. The sting of the box on her chest has her hissing slightly, looking up to the perpetrator. Howahkan stares down at her, his dark eyes show no signs of care that he had pushed with a little to much force at her, probably with a bit much more then he should have. He didn’t care, Eve knew better, the man had disregarded her the second she joined them she knew, and yet the better part of her still hoped that the man would open up to her. “If you have time to stand like a dumbass at least get your own s**t out of the truck.” Yeah, like that would ever happen. She nods her head, a fight with him was like asking a rock to move from its original spot, useless and impossible. He only spoke when necessary and everything he did say was said in a harsh tone to further the impact of what he said. Moving towards the house she pauses as she hears a slight thud, turning towards the source she sees a football at Howahkans feet, his head turned slightly to Damon, a murderous look in his eyes as he takes deep and slow breaths. “Now, now you big oaf, we all agreed to help each other with all our s**t. So shut up and start grabbing the rest of the boxes—oh and be careful with the ball it has sentimental value.” Rolling his eyes he slips past the “big oaf” smiling towards Eve and heading into the house, two boxes in his hands. She looks back towards Howahkan, a growl leaving his mouth as she makes direct contact with him, jumping she turns and goes inside herself, not once thinking of turning back. She was pulled to the side, a small yelp leaving her mouth, soft white set eyes stare at her, waiting for her breathing to calm. Dianne was fidgeting her left hand picking at the skin of her thumb slightly, she had always been a quiet fidgeter, watching from the sidelines as the other bit at each others throats all the while wanting to know what they would have for dinner. “Lucifer asked me to show you to your room.” She says, pulling her right hand away from Eve as if she’s been burned, she was never much of a talker, but seeing as how she spoke now made Eve bristle slightly, was she really not worth even a moment to spare that she couldn’t wait to get away from her. Sighing the girl followed, wary of the wide window view of the living room, anyone could peek in on them, though she was sure that they would fix in the near future. Walking up the stairs she shifts slightly, the weight of the box much more heavier then she was expecting. Even with new found strength she wasn’t sure if it had changed anything in her at all, she was still the same girl they had found, small and weak that much was sure. Making their way to the third floor Dianne leads her to the door at the end of the hall, a spacious room with a bed already set up is what she was led into. It was—nice and she would have said something had her eyes not been glued to the balcony. Surely living here wouldn’t be so bad if she was always met with a view like this. The three story house did wonders at making the view past the trees visible, putting the box on the bed she pushes the door to the balcony open, the sound of the door to the bedroom closing signifying Dianne’s exit. She lets the gentle breeze blow past her, her locks that had been tied up on the journey blowing past her neck, the cooling effects of the wind calming her apprehensive body. It was…beautiful. Thats the word she had been looking for, not just the scenery but also the idea of starting something new, blossoming into a new chapter and rewriting her own story with a new pen and a clean sheet of paper. It was…freeing, being gone from where she once was—who she once was. It was the start of a new beginning, she wanted to be able to help the six wolves that were downstairs, wanting to lead them and help them overcome the centuries of hiding and fear that had followed them each time they turned their backs on something. She wanted them to be able to stay in one spot, settle down, create a family and be able to finally be at peace with themselves and everything around them. But Eve wasn’t dumb, she knew much better then that, this wouldn’t be over until they pled innocent to the gods, the gods who had disregarded them and kicked them out. Eve knew that, but still, looking up she looks towards the tips of the mountains, the small set of snow still peaking around and majestically keeping its ground. Hearing the sound of laughter down below she looks to see the football that had ‘sentimental’ value being thrown at a laughing Damon, a dark growl following the sound as Howahkan quickly follows after the little demon determined to make him pay for embarrassing him earlier. Looking behind him she sees Faith and Aki, one shaking their head while the other encouraging the behavior, a fidgeting Dianne and a prowling Lucifer on his way to stop the arguing. Still, the ominous sound of new beginnings as the ball is taken from the two, a pouting blue eyed boy being forced to apologize to a big black eye baby. But still, looking on as both wolves bow down with respect and devotion slightly glazing their eyes….until then… This isn’t so bad. *** The new house had been settled in for a few weeks, the seven wolves quickly growing accustomed and having a routine in their daily lives of doing nothing; that did include hurdling the seven wolves into one massive kitchen and having them be silent enough to stuff their mouths down with breakfast. It did not slip past them that there was one empty seat, Lucifer looked towards the green eyed beta, a slight shake of his head indicating that she wouldn’t be joining them again. He sighed, just how long would she stay planted in the room and continue to avoid them, there were six of them, it shouldn’t be impossible to run into the smaller female and yet none of them had seen her walk out of the room for more then a glass of water and slice of bread. Had she settled in well? Was she happy with the move? Would she leave them? Were all thoughts that would race his head every once in a while, he should have more faith in the girl, he really should and yet, there was still that lingering doubt. She didn’t know what she was doing, she had been thrown into a world that she may as well have not been prepared for; who knows if she could keep up with it. She should have gone down, Damon and Faith had been the ones to come up to her door this time, insisting that the seven of them sit down and properly talk things out so they could begin lessons. She wanted to, and yet she couldn’t find the will power to move no more then to the balcony, she couldn’t walk out the room. She had locked herself away the second the last box had been handed to her, she couldn’t figure out where to begin. How does one lead six grown wolves that had been led by two of the same people for centuries. Decades upon decades of memories being tarnished as they would bow down to a new person who was both their alpha and their luna. Could she even do it? Would they let her…she didn’t want to force herself on them..didn’t want to become what Dominic had been to her. A growl in the back of her head shuts her up, the wolves had been apprehensive, trying to get the girl to at least shower. She had dismissed the idea, what was wrong with the shorts and the t-shirt she was in? No one would see her, no one would smell her either. Groaning she sits up, a clammy hand running down her face as growls back towards the red wolf, snorting at her when it notices the scrunch of her nose at her own smell. Sue her, she didn’t want to shower. She lets her feet meet the cold floor, the slightly open door to the balcony being the reason for said cold floor. Not that she minded, the cooling outside air was one of the many things that had kept her from loosing it as the two wolves bickered and fought at the back of her head. Healthy relationship my ass. They bickered more then she could imagine, whether it was about the way one spoke to the other or when one wasn’t receiving the amount of attention they usually get. It was all too…overbearing. She sighed, a slight look at her appearance has her grabbing her brush, letting it run through the tangled strands. The purple-red eyes in the mirror still spook her, she can’t stare at them for too long before she has to look away from her reflection; this was her new reality now and as much as she didn’t want to accept it she had too. Placing the brush down without much care she turns to the balcony, the bickering in her head not pausing anytime soon. “Oh please dear, I spoke with you yesterday about this. Must you always argue when I want some alone time. For goodness to the heavens you sure are a spoiled one.” Sapientiae mutters, turning away from Violentiam who let out a gasp, hurt by her choice of words. “You only spoke to me for a few minutes, you never told me about your day even though I asked you multiple times—“ “Vio…we don’t do anything all day must I really tell you about my day when there are no events.” “Yes. How else am I supposed to fill this empty space up.” He mumbles down, looking around with a slight look of disgust. She should be offended he did just say there is a lack of things going on inside her head…though how is there supposed to be anything going on when the wolf took up more space then she could imagine. “Hey—watch it, I can still pester you in the outside world even without your consent little one. I mean honestly, how must you expect to find yourself a significant other when all you do is sit around and stare at the blank wall. We get it it’s white.” “Vio mind your tone.” “He’s not wrong.” She mumbles out, her nails slightly scratching at the new paint. The wood underneath peaking and making itself known. She places the mental blocks with them, the weeks of being with them having showed her how to block them from her own thoughts and finally being able to get a moment of silence. She knew he meant well, well as much as she wished he would say it nicer she couldn’t expect much, chaos followed were he went. How Sapientiae put up with it she wasn’t sure. She knew she couldn’t nest in here forever, the bathroom was the second door down the hall anyway. She would have to leave the room and face the six of them at some point, she knew that, but hiding in here for a bit more wouldn’t be so bad. She shakes her head heading inside and reaching inside the drawers, pulling out a box containing the brown eye contacts she had been given to wear once they moved in. Of course she should have been wearing them and practicing how to put them on properly throughout the days, had Sapientiae encouraging her to at least try them on so she wouldn’t be so scared of her reflection, and yet here she was struggling to properly place them in like Faith had shown her. Was it normal to tear up so much after putting them in, it probably wasn’t, but she wouldn’t go down and ask…at least not right now. She heads to the balcony, not staring into her reflection to make sure she had them on right, she couldn’t be bothered, she was merely getting used to the feeling. She had been sighing a lot she notices, the white of the mountains peek at her, the snow not leaving the peak no matter how much the sun wills it away. The gentle sway of the trees bring about new scents, some familiar and some unfamiliar. She could hear children in the nearby town joking and laughing with people, could hear the bustling sounds of the town in great motion. Everything would continue in motion no matter how much you willed it would stop. No matter how much you wish that the world would pause for a second and see what is so wrong with it. She knows its impossible, it’s just a little girls mindset, she needed to mature if she wanted the six of them downstairs to view at her differently. And yet, she just couldn’t do it, she wanted to be a teenager, she hadn’t experienced much while she had been growing up. She wanted to have a school crush that she could giggle about to other girls, she wanted to be able to join school clubs and participate in school events; she wanted to walk into classrooms with laughing people that would at least say hi to her. She wanted…normal. At least thats what she had envisioned, all her life it had been set out for her that she was nothing but a spec of dust that people could flick away without a care. What was she supposed to do when that had changed entirely? How was she supposed to go about things when her life was no longer written down? How could she pick up her pen and create a new life when she had no idea what to expect? She didn’t want to do the wrong thing, hurt the wrong people. So how was she supposed to know? You don’t know. Her thoughts exasperate, gripping her hair she looks down at the scratched up paint, no one knows. Pausing at the havoc of thoughts flooding her brain she knows a headache is forming at the back, knows that she probably shouldn’t be closing her eyes so tightly with freshly placed contacts, and yet here she was doing just that. Her nose scrunches up slightly, what was that? She looks towards the trees, a distinct smell of…pine? It had the back of her brain itching, she knew that it was the two of them wanting to talk to her, ignoring them as her eyes look towards what the source of smell may be. There was nothing…she could see nothing, she must have been imagining it. Yeah…she was only imagining it…so why was it that a pair of eyes were looking at her from behind a bush. Not just any pair of eyes…a wolves pair. The hair on the back of her neck bristles, she could feel something itching at the back of her throat, something forcing it’s way out. A slight panic showing briefly on her features as she leers forward, a sneeze flying past her and causing her face to hunch forward. She hears the wolf chuckle, still looking towards it as it lowers it’s head, in what she thinks is challenging. Was it…challenging her? Or was it merely twisting it’s head. Whatever it may be…it’s kind of adorable. Her lips stifle to contain the smile from coming forward, though her face twists into one of horror as she realizes that she doesn’t know this wolf, she doesn’t know who they are and where they came from. Though she realizes that the pine smell is coming from them. Loosing all sense of reason the girl runs towards her door, twisting the knob in a hurry as she races down the stairs, passing a Faith who presses themselves against the wall as to not meet her doom. She runs towards the living room door, forgetting to put on shoes as she races outside, the wet grass meeting the bottom of her feet. Heading towards the bush she pushes past the leaves, nothing but the empty space and a pair of paw prints being left behind. She was sure the wolf would have stayed with how it was looking at her with a challenging stare, and yet…why did she feel so disappointed to know that it didn’t stay, that it had run away from her the second it knew she was coming down. The slight smell of pine meets her nose, a shiver runner down her spine at the calming effects it had on her. She chuckles slightly, had she been so delirious because of those twos arguments that she had imagined a wolf? But, that didn’t explain the paw prints left behind, hearing shuffling behind her she turns seeing the six wolves pile outside and stare at her with concern. “What’s wrong? Did you see something?” Lucifer asks being the first to reach towards her with his hands slightly pushed towards her, wanting to reach out and grab her. Turning back towards the forest she lets the small smile on her face appear again, whether the wolf had been there for her or to merely look at the house she wouldn’t know. But having a small secret from them wasn’t so bad, it was almost exciting. She kicks at the dirt slightly pulling her hands away from the bush, hiding the fact that there had been a wolf from them. Turning back to Lucifer she grabs his hand lightly walking back inside as she shakes her head, “Thought I saw a squirrel.” Though she couldn’t help but wonder what the wolves had been scratching at the back of her head for.
