Chapter Seven

Hunter woke up with a start. She began to panic, until she felt steady warm breath on the back of her neck along with a pair of arms wrapped around her body. She felt a sense of kinetic disorientation as she tried to move her legs, only to find them tangled with Cierra's. Blinking the sleep out of her eyes, she deliberated for a moment before slowly detangling herself from her. Physically, she was quite comfortable, but she felt uneasy. She could feel a decidedly malicious feeling building up within her, coiling tightly in the pit of her stomach with promises of never going away either until the urge was quenched, or it exploded out of her unwillingly. This wasn't a foreign feeling, but as it was, she couldn't take care of what it meant without breaking a promise. Being gentle with Cierra was taking its toll on her. Running a hand through her hand, she tugged roughly on the short strands to wake herself up some, setting her bare feet atop the soft, plush carpet. A quick glance over her shoulder revealed Cierra was still soundly asleep. Her expression was peculiar; her eyebrows were pulled down into a thoughtful expression, her eyes squeezed shut. A quiet laugh escaped Hunter's lips before she slid out of the bed altogether, starting her morning routine. As she went through the mundane motions, she mapped out their next few days. It wasn't just coincidence to head to Missouri; less than an hour away from them in Kansas City stayed one of her few real friends, Dimitri Gardner. He was rather isolated, preferring the same lifestyle as Hunter save for less murder. He wouldn't mind hiding Hunter and Cierra's existence for a while. "I don't know how you get up so early without an alarm, but it's unnatural and you disgust me." Turning away from the sink, Hunter arched an eyebrow at a disheveled Cierra, who simply crossed her arms and leaned against the door frame. "Internal alarm," She responded, shrugging. Toothpaste dripped down her chin before she turned to spit, wiping the excess away with the back of her hand. "Why are you awake?" It was probably still before the sun was even up. "You know, I'm so used to you taking up a portion of wherever I'm sleeping, whenever you aren't there, I automatically start looking for you." Her tone was dry, and she quickly whirled around and returned to the bedroom. The light of the bathroom spilled out into the dark bedroom, casting a rectangular shape on the carpet before she turned off the switch. "Are you still tired?" Flipping onto her back, Cierra stretched out as Hunter came to sit on the side of the bed. "No. Well, I am, but I don't actually want to go back to sleep. What's the plan?" Falling back onto her own pillow, Hunter rubbed her eyes. "We're going to link up with a friend of mine in Kansas City. Although I'm sure you derailed them enough for us to slip through, we'll still have to be cautious of the police. The FBI doesn't give up so easily, I'm sure." Cierra hummed in response, rolling onto her side. Propping herself up on her elbow, Hunter placed her hand on Cierra's hip, dragging her closer. Burrowing her face into the crook of her neck, Hunter breathed in Cierra's naturally alluring scent underneath the irritating smell of the hotel soap, trailing her nose feather lightly along the curve of her neck. She smirked as she felt Cierra's body shudder, automatically molding itself to Hunter's. How long had it been? Definitely before they got on the road, and it had been almost a week since then. "You know, I realized something," Cierra mumbled, twisting around until her cinnamon colored eyes met Hunter's. "You don't really like to be touched involuntarily. It's always you holding me, or... doing things to me, never the other way around." Hunter hadn't given Cierra enough credit. Shrugging, Hunter gazed back, aloof. "Why?" She reached up, her fingers brushing against the skin just below the silver chain. "I like to maintain a certain type of control. How to explain it..." She paused, a tiny line appearing between her brows. "It’s more of a power trip kind of thing. I like to know that whomever I am with, they are under my control physically, emotionally, and more over mentally. It's been a long time since I've actually felt the need for my own s****l stimulation, and physical contact that I have not initiated ironically enough bothers me. Does that make sense?" Cierra grinned. "No. But I guess since it's you, I have no choice but to accept it." Hunter rolled her eyes but her lips twitched. "At least you're finally learning the rules." There was a moment before Cierra shifted quickly, moving to straddle the Siren. Hunter's hands automatically went to rest on her bare thighs as she raised her eyebrows curiously, but didn't object. The ex Detective took advantage of this, experimentally, running her fingers through Hunter's soft hair, trailing them lightly down her face. Once again, she was reminded just how strikingly gorgeous Hunter really was. Even when they'd first encountered each other, she hadn't worn any excess of make up. Wearing none at all didn't take away from her natural beauty; in fact, it just made her attractive in a way that not many people could access. Cierra was brought out of her daze as Hunter's fingers pressed almost teasingly into Cierra's inner thighs, producing an almost electrical response. She felt a jolt as she peered into Hunter's familiar eyes, glad that the contacts were gone so that she could now see the clouds that had shifted into those smokey green depths. She sighed, an almost longing sound. "You have no idea how easy it would be to... I can feel it, you know? I just... I need... I need..." She released a noise of frustration, turning her head away from Cierra. She didn't have a chance to respond, the wind knocked from her lungs as she was suddenly pressed into the mattress, her wrists trapped above her head. "We don't have time for this," She sighed, strands of her colored hair falling into her vision. "We need to get back on the road." Releasing her wrists, she lowered herself on top of Cierra, resting her forearms on either side of her head. Her nose brushed against the ex Detective's, who's eyes were shut tightly, her body rigid. Hunter, her mind momentarily cleared of her lustful haze, pondered what could be wrong with her. However, she didn't break the silence, simply let the woman be. Cierra moved significantly slower than her, so she was able to track her movements easily as she shifted underneath her, linking her leg around her waist to flip her over. Curiously, Hunter watched her silently as she straddled her, her hands pressing into the Siren's shoulders to hold her down. "We can make time," She announced, causing Hunter's mouth to fall open in astonishment as they returned to their previous position. "I want to try something, and you're going to let me." She didn't wait for an answer; her warm hands trailed underneath Hunter's shirt, first resting on her stomach, then hesitantly moving upward, taking the cloth with it. Cierra bit her lip, forcing her expression to remain neutral as she explored Hunter's body in a way that she hadn't been able to before; in a way that she hadn't been able to with any woman. Hunter wasn't wearing a bra, and she used this to her advantage as she ran her fingers feather lightly over her lover's n****e. She watched in wonder as a small gasp escaped Hunter's lips, and she immediately tried to recoil. Pushing away her hesitation, Cierra's hand traveled farther down, her fingers dipping into Hunter's underwear. She could feel the Siren's body tense up underneath her, her gaze critical against Cierra's face. "Cierra," She cautioned, a dark pink tint to her cheeks. "I don't think-" "Why does this make you uncomfortable?" She demanded quietly, leaning down so that her lips were but a hair's length away from Hunter's. Hunter's gaze was clear and alert. "I don't enjoy the thought of someone else having control of me, Cierra. Not to mention the fact that I haven't been in a proper domination position in too long, so it doesn't help having someone try to exude one over me." She instinctively felt the urge to put Cierra back into her place, but fought it. What place was that? Their relationship had advanced beyond the boundaries of what it had began as; a simple almost homicide. The moment Hunter's feelings developed into love, she could no longer lay a malicious hand on the woman. The lines of their relationship were blurred, and neither of them were on truly stable ground because of it. Sitting up as best she could, Hunter wrapped an arm around Cierra's waist, pulling her body flush against her own. Lacing her fingers into her dark mane of hair, Hunter tugged forcefully so that her head tilted back. Her lips were almost instantly at the other woman's neck, her tongue darting out to leave a trail of fire from there to between her breasts. Cierra's body seemed to internally combust as she pushed to get closer. "I love you, but there are some things I just won't get into." She murmured against her skin, her hands traveling up the back of Cierra's shirt. Resting her hand against the small of her back, she gave Cierra a chaste kiss. "Now let's go."
