Despite never having managed to go on a proper run here before, he had taken the bus past the area countless times, looking into the park as far as the foliage allowed and imagining himself spending time there, so it wasn’t all unfamiliar. He wasn’t sure if he was imagining it, but even just a few hundred meters away from the roads, the air felt crisp and clear, pleasant on his flushing cheeks. If it was light out, with more people around, he might have been self-conscious about his face turning red. Henry had never been nonathletic, but his body had always reacted like this whenever he exercised, even as a child.
