Chapter 6Whether Gere slept for extended periods of time, the way humans did, was unclear to Henry, but he knew that Gere hadn’t left his bed when he woke up in the morning. The blinds on the bedroom window let in only a bit of morning light, not enough to disturb Gere, though his eyes were firmly shut when Henry looked at him. The mothman breathed noiselessly at rest, but Henry could feel his ribcage moving calmly. What a strange and wonderful sight to wake up to, especially now that he’d had something of a glimpse into Gere’s mind. It was a miracle, really, being so truly liked…maybe even loved, if that wasn’t too abstract of a concept, and to feel every ounce of it.
