Chapter 3Henry didn’t understand what he was looking at, but it was coming closer and he lost his balance, landing hard on his rear. He scrambled backwards on the three limbs that could somewhat take his weight, dragging his throbbing ankle as he tried to widen the shrinking space between himself and the impossibly large shadow moving towards him. Whatever that thing was, it wasn’t human. Even if the massive wings weren’t a dead giveaway, it moved all wrong. It sounded wrong. His mind might have been playing tricks on him, irrational with fear, but he thought he could see red eyes glowering at him. A low rumble came from it, followed intermittently by clicking noises that reminded him of zombies from a video game, and it was coming closer. It was coming for him. “No no no, please don’t…”
