Before the sun began to rise the next day, Jamira silently prepared herself to leave Maragtas's quarters. Stirring from his slumber, Maragtas's eyes fluttered open just as Jamira made her way to the door. "Where are you going?" Maragtas asked, his voice laced with sleep. "I must return to the palace," Jamira replied softly, turning to face him with a smile. "My attendants will be waking me up soon, and if I am not in my chambers, a report will be made to the Rajah." Maragtas reached out to grasp her hand, his drowsiness evident. "I will accompany you," he offered. Shaking her head, Jamira squeezed his hand reassuringly. "No need," she insisted.
