Lexi gathered the cards and placed them in a pile. She stood and stepped to the couch. "Okay, tell me what drives you to rescue people like me?" Lexi sunk into the soft and cozy couch. She yawned and when he didn't answer she asked again. "So where do you get your drive, your conviction?" Luke stood solid, gazing out at the snow, his broad shoulders pulled back by his hands stuck in the back pockets of his jeans. She'd concluded that whatever it was must have hurt him greatly and he wouldn't discuss it at all when suddenly he said, "Allie, my little sister Allie. I couldn't save her.
