The council session in which the treaty was formally nullified was brief in the way that only decisive things were brief: no extended argument, no procedural maneuvering, just the clean announcement of a conclusion that the documentation supported without ambiguity.
Corwin read the clause aloud. He read the censure record confirmation directly after it. He presented both with the careful, slightly chastened tone of a man correcting an oversight he was not proud of, and when he finished the room accepted the conclusion in the quiet way of people who had already understood, before they walked in, how this was going to land.
Damien spoke the formal close of it without flourish. The consideration right was void. The engagement stood. The matter was closed.
