Part 2

I opened my eyes and jumped up rapidly, looking around at everyone standing around me. Elder Rivers gently touched my arm, causing me to startle a bit and i looked at him and said, "What happened and how long was i out for?" He smiled and said, "You passed out just as Selene said that you would and you have been out for probably ten minutes now. How are you feeling?" I looked down at myself and realized that not only did i feel great but i felt something totally different than i did before meeting,Selene. I smiled and said, "I think it's time for us to shift." He smiled and said,"Very well! Would you like to do the honors of calling all of the first timers to this circle?" I got up and walked to the center of the circle and said, "First time shifters of Lupine Ridge and all other packs that are with us here tonight, please join me as we all become one with nature and embrace our inner counterparts!" About ten people stepped forward from each pack and took their places around the massive circle and i took mine at the very center. I got down on all fours and the others followed my lead. As soon as the last one touched the ground bones started to break and shift, pushing themselves to accommodate our true shapes. I noticed very quickly that it was happening in order as i watched each person start to shift. As i watched the last person fall to his knees screaming in pain with the first break of his bones,I felt really calm as i felt the moon pull my head towards the sky. I felt my body start to change and i expected it to be painful but, surprisingly no pain came. I looked around and i noticed other pack members looking at me like i had grown two heads. I didn't realize why until i looked down and saw that i had not only fully shifted but i was also twice as big as any other female in the pack. I felt a sudden, very painful pressure in my head and winced, knowing that i would soon meet my other half. After the pressure subsided i opened my eyes, and opened my inner link up to her and said,

"Hello, I am Amber rain. But you can call me, Rain." A few moments passed as I waited for her to respond. All of a sudden I felt like a missing piece of me was reunited and I felt whole. I felt her open up our link and I opened mine right as she said,

"Hello, Rain, my name is Storm, I've waited so long to finally meet you! I think it's time we ran with our pack, something tells me that we are going to be very close to them." I nodded my head internally and turned towards the other six hundred wolves that were standing around me,opening the pack link and shouted,

"Lupine Ridge pack and visiting packs, shift! It's time for us to unite as one and run as one. To all of those who are not a part of this pack, I thank you for coming here today to show your support for my late father and for me as well. Let's run!

With those last few words I turned and took off, my father's beta flanking my right and his gamma on my left. My best friends, Noel and Erryn following closely behind. I looked over my shoulder and saw more wolves than I had ever seen before and the feeling that it gave me sent chills coursing through my body. Before I knew it we were back at the field and I came to a stop, the others following suit. I turned and looked for my mother and she was smiling so proudly at me and that smile alone would top any other feeling in the world. She walked over to me and sat my clothes on the ground, and then she wrapped her arms around Storm's neck and hugged us both. She pulled back and said, "I never thought I'd see you again old friend, take care of my daughter." Storm was whining as she rubbed her head against my mom and I felt her give me back control, and I immediately shifted back, wondering what my mother meant by that. She gave me a look that said we would speak later and I left it alone. But something told me that I was about to learn a lot of information I wasn't ready for. I got dressed and walked over to, Elder Rivers. He turned to me and also gave me that same proud smile that my mother had just given me moments before and he said, "Rain my dear, you are an absolute natural and much more powerful than any of us imagined you could be." I c****d my head and said, " What do you mean by that?" He chuckled and said, "Rain, when you gave the order to run earlier, you didn't just command your pack, you commanded everyone here, including me." I looked at him like he had grown two heads and said, "Elder Rivers, how is that possible? I've never even heard of such a thing being possible, let alone it actually happening." He looked around as if to check and see if anyone was listening, and then he leaned in closer and said, "When the annual bash is over with, I'll come see you in your office at the pack house. Such things should only be discussed behind soundproof walls." I nodded, not happy with his response but I would deal with it later just like the situation with my mom a few minutes ago." I turned towards the crowd of wolves and people, everyone of them looking at me and whispering. I cleared my throat and opened up the link again, everyone stopped talking, giving me their undivided attention as I said,

"Tonight has been a blessing all on its own, just by having each and every one of you here. I encourage all of you to feast, mingle, and if unmated to wander about and see if your other half is here as well. I hope all of you enjoy yourselves and if anyone of you needs anything, do not hesitate to seek me out. Now, without further ado, let's get these bonfires lit and kick off this party with bang!"

Everyone hollered and howled, and I watched two people find their mates right then and there. I smiled watching everyone enjoying themselves and decided I would go and find my favorite pack members. I was walking through all of the pack members searching for my friends when I finally caught a glimpse and was honestly shocked and hurt at the sight before me. Both of my best friends had found their mates within our pack so they wouldn't be leaving me, but what hurt was seeing, Erryn,with her tongue down Brendon's throat. No one else knew this,but,Erryn and I have or should i say had a relationship before tonight happened. And at this moment i started to regret asking the moon goddess to wait a few years to give me my fated mate. As if sensing me, both of my best friends looked up at me but only one of them looked happy. I smiled at, Noel, and walked over and hugged her and said, "Congrats guys, i'm happy for you both." I glanced over at Erryn, and she was still looking at me with this hurt filled look and i knew it was just as hard for her as it was for me. I held up my beer and said,"Here's to the future babes, let tonight be wild and tomorrow be long!" Erryn finally smiled and loosened up a bit. And just as i was about to call it a night, I looked up and locked eyes with a very tall and handsome man. He cleared the space between us in a matter of seconds. He looked me up and down before he grabbed me by the waist, pulling me flush into him and as bad as i hated to admit it i could feel the mate bond, and Storm, was howling in my head saying,

"Mate! our mate is here!"

He leaned in closer, as if he was slowly breathing me in, running his nose up my neck line and as he reached my ear he said," Hello my beautiful mate." I shivered when his lips touched my skin as he said the words that I wasn't expecting to hear, at least not for a couple more years. He was about to lean in for a kiss, but a growl stopped him,causing Storm, to immediately come to the surface. We spun around and Storm instantly locked eyes with, Erryn. Everyone around us was confused as to what was going on and honestly, so was I. Storm stood her ground in front of our mate as if she was protecting him in some way and Erryn stood up from her seat and growled again. Before i could stop her, Storm, was standing in front of her accepting the challenge. Erryn, had no choice but to submit to her because the power was flowing off of her in waves, everyone within ten feet was bearing their necks to her. I opened up the link to, Storm and said,

"Storm, give me back control now!"

She growled at Erryn, one last time before retreating to the back of my mind, but just under the surface in case she was needed. I immediately turned to my new found mate and everyone around us, and apologized. I then turned back to,Erryn and said," What the hell is wrong with you?" She looked down, regret clearly written all over her face as she said, "I'm sorry, my wolf took control. She is really protective over you." Hearing those words come out of her mouth, i knew that both of us finding our mates was gonna be a very difficult thing for both of us to process. I exhaled harshly and said, " I understand, trust me i do, but your wolf and i will be having a conversation tomorrow in my office. It seems to me that we have to clear the air on some things." She nodded and said, "Yes,Alpha. I'm really sorry." I turned to my mate and said, " I promise that i can explain all of this if you give me the chance to. So how about we turn in for the night and go somewhere quiet to talk?" He smiled a breath taking smile at me and said," I would really like that." I turned my back on,Erryn, leaving her there to think about what she just did and to also give her the space that she needed, silently thinking to myself, "It's time to get to know my mate and leave the past behind me."
