On the way home from the church banquet, Evan stopped to pick up a bottle of Wild Turkey. So much had happened in just one day. Anxious adults had tasked him with the welfare of disturbed children — and neither of them had any real reason to trust him. He’d run himself in frantic circles seeking answers to questions that should have been freely given. But he’d hit a wall. The stresses of this day called for serious reflection followed by alcoholic anesthesia.
