--- *Title: Chapter 12 – Legacy* *Kain Corp. 7:30 AM.* I opened the email before I even brushed my teeth. Subject: *Legacy* Sender: Amara Attachment: *1 video file, 2.3 GB* Damian was already awake, coffee in hand, watching me. “Don’t play it yet,” he said. “Let security scan it first.” I shook my head. “If Victor wanted me dead, I’d be dead already.” I hit play. The screen flickered. Victor Kain sat in a dark room. Older, thinner, but it was him. “Luna,” he said. “If you’re seeing this, I’m dead. Good. You won.” He smiled. Not cruel. Tired. “But winning doesn’t mean you understand. Project Omega wasn’t about money. It was about control. The world is broken, Luna. People lie, steal, kill. I built Omega to stop that.” He leaned forward. “I left you something. A choice. In the vault beneath Kain Corp Tower. Use it to control the world… or destroy it. Either way, you’ll be like me.” The video ended. Damian cursed. “A vault? Why didn’t we know about this?” “Because Victor hid it,” I said. “Before he faked his death.” I stood up. “We’re going down there.” --- *9:00 AM. Sub-Basement Level 7. Kain Corp Tower.* No one knew this floor existed. Not even the board. The elevator required Victor’s biometrics and mine. The doors opened to a concrete room. Cold. Empty. Except for a single steel door. Damian ran his hand over the scanner. “Retinal and DNA match required,” he said. “Yours and his.” I stepped forward. “My DNA is half his,” I said. “It should work.” The scanner beeped green. The door unlocked. Inside was a single server. Smaller than Project Omega. Sleek. Black. And a letter. I picked it up. Victor’s handwriting. _“Luna, This is Legacy. An AI more advanced than Omega. It can predict crime, manipulate markets, control governments. I built it to save the world. But I realized too late that no one should have that power. Not even me. The choice is yours. Delete it, and the world stays broken. Activate it, and you become God. Choose wisely. — V.K.”_ I looked at Damian. “What do we do?” Damian didn’t hesitate. “We delete it.” I nodded. “Yeah. We delete it.” I plugged in the drive, ran the wipe protocol, and watched the server light blink out. Legacy was gone. --- *12:00 PM. Kain Corp. Rooftop.* The sun was bright. No threats. No countdowns. Just us. Mom was recovering. Nico was in witness protection, cooperating with the SEC. Rafael was buried with full honors. Kain Corp paid for it. Selina was in prison, singing to the SEC to get a lighter sentence. It was over. Damian stood beside me, hands in his pockets. “So,” he said. “What now, Chairwoman?” I rolled my eyes. “Stop calling me that.” Damian smiled. “Fine. Luna.” I leaned my head on his shoulder. “Now we build,” I said. “For real this time. No secrets. No lies. Just good tech, good people.” Damian wrapped an arm around me. “Sounds boring,” he said. “Boring is good,” I replied. Damian laughed. “Yeah. Boring is good.” --- *3:00 PM. Kain Corp. Board Room.* The board was nervous. I stood at the head of the table, no notes, no presentation. “I’m stepping down as Chairwoman,” I said. The room exploded. “Why?” asked Chairman Reyes. “Because I don’t want it,” I said simply. “I wanted to save Kain Corp. I did. Now I want to build something better.” Damian stood up. “I’m stepping down as CEO,” he said. “Effective immediately.” Reyes looked like he’d been slapped. “Who will run the company?” he asked. “Maria Santos,” I said. “Our CFO. She’s honest, smart, and she hates Victor as much as I do.” The board murmured. Then nodded. Maria Santos was a good choice. --- *6:00 PM. Morales Apartment. Quezon City.* Mom was home. Sitting in the living room, sipping soup. I sat beside her. “You’re leaving, aren’t you?” she asked. I nodded. “Where are you going?” Damian walked in from the kitchen, carrying two mugs of coffee. “Start-up,” I said. “Small. Just me, Damian, and 10 engineers. No board. No politics. Just tech that helps people.” Mom smiled. “Good.” She reached out and took my hand. “I’m proud of you, Luna,” she said. I squeezed her hand back. “I’m proud of you too, Mom.” --- *9:00 PM. Airport. NAIA Terminal 3.* We weren’t running. We were choosing. Damian held my hand as we walked to the gate. “Singapore,” he said. “Good place to start over.” I nodded. “No Victor. No Selina. No Kain Corp.” Damian smiled. “Just us.” The announcement came. Boarding for flight PR513 to Singapore. I took a deep breath. “Ready?” Damian asked. I looked at him. “Ready.” We walked through the gate together. --- *1 Year Later. Singapore. 7:00 PM.* *Luna & Kain Tech* was 30 people now. We built AI for rural hospitals. Free. No investors. No board. Just us. I was in my office when Damian walked in, holding two bowls of ramen. “One year,” he said. “One year,” I replied. We ate in silence, looking out at the city lights. No war. No secrets. Just peace. Damian set his bowl down. “Luna,” he said. “Yeah?” “Marry me.” I blinked. Damian pulled out a ring. Simple. Silver. No diamonds. “I don’t want a wedding with 500 people,” he said. “I just want you.” I laughed through tears. “Yes,” I said. “Yes.” Damian slipped the ring on my finger. Then he kissed me. Slow. Certain. Final. --- *Epilogue. 5 Years Later.* Kain Corp was thriving under Maria Santos. Ethical. Profitable. Mom was cancer-free. Nico ran a non-profit for cybercrime victims. And me? I was Mrs. Luna Kain. Mom of twins. CEO of a 200-person tech company that actually made the world better. Victor’s legacy was gone. Mine was just beginning. --- *THE END*
