That could mean anything. The Salusians were a conquered people. They might be hiding inside their homes, hoping to avoid the war raging outside. Or they might have evacuated the city. Or the Ragnosians might have started rounding them up. Squinting against the sun, Anna sighed as the wind tousled her hair. “Too many possibilities,” she muttered. “Too many unknowns.” She turned around to check on her people. They came out of the hole one by one and hurried off toward the abandoned building. Most had their rifles strapped to their backs, though a few still carried their weapons.
