After a long fearful silence, in confusion I opened my eyes and saw that he was using his claws to touch my bracelet like he was examining it, he had given it to me a night before my eighteenth birthday that has turned out a disaster. After which, he slowly drifted back from me and said, “Stay here, it is dangerous out there”, he gently picked up his jacket from the floor and used it to cover me and he went outside.

I moved swiftly to the corner of the cave in fear, in my head I asked,’ Who is Riccardo?’ the picture of him giving me a dirty slap that saved the day flashed in my mind. He is definitely not a human, I thought. In no distant time, he walked in, in human form dressed in a light brown t-shirt and black trousers and he was looking cool in it, he was with a goat which he dropped on the floor and said “Eat, you need it to regain your strength” with a long face and he left, after a while he came and saw that the animal was not touched so he uses his claws to rip off the animal’s neck and blood started gushing out and left the second time, in no time I was done eating and sucking the blood of the goat. And I felt refreshed and strengthened, “what next,” I said to myself, it was dark already, so I came out of the cave to look for him and I saw him lying down facing the sky on one of the fallen trees. I walked up to him and said “what a birthday, I had expected much on this day, you know, but it turn out to be a mess” he sat up straight and invited me to sit with him, I consciously sat on the tree staring at him not knowing what to say, after about five minutes of salient, he broke the salience by looking straight at me and asked “who are you?, I thought I know you by now but it turn out that I don’t know you”. “right now, I don’t even know myself either and I think you know me better than I know myself judging by the way you have handled the situation from earlier, prior to the time you asked this question I even thought that maybe we are the same kind but now I know that I am something I don’t know about and you are something else and may be you can’t help me either…” I was talking no stop in a confused manner, he shifted close to me held my shoulder firmly and looked straight into eye like he was so sure of something and he said “ sarephina you are a vampire” he pursed and said it again but this time he shouted like someone frustrated, he continue with an angry voice and said “ I am supposed to be a were wolf, a vampire slayer but here I am helping you instead, I don’t know what is wrong or right any more, before he could finish I hugged him tightly and thanked him.

I will go far away from you if that will make you feel better but please answer this one question “Why did you stop when you were about to kill me”? I asked this with tears on my face, “I saw the bracelet I gave to you as my best friend and I remembered that you are a good person, all the good you did not just to me but also to the other student before today which made me consider you a friend has been washed down the drain, today because you are a vampire and vampires can never resist blood so they kill and suck the blood of other at will, I don’t want to see you anywhere near me again and the next time we will meet we will be meeting as enemies because vampire and werewolf are sown enemies, vampires kill human beings to survive, as he speaks with a heavy heart, we both cried our eyes out.

“Where do I go from here,” I asked as I pushed him back a bit and continued “You know how to talk big, answer me what have I done to deserve all this, if really I am a vampire does that automatically make me a bad, have you ever see me killing anybody? You have no good expectations from me answer me, anyway Who gave you the right to judge me”? I shouted in frustration and then sat down and wept bitterly.

I did not whip because of who or what I am or may become, I wept bitterly because I noticed that Riccardo whom I thought I love was narrow-minded.

As I sat down and wept, Riccardo at a slow pace walked up to me and handed me a handkerchief with a pitiful look on his face. I refused to take the handkerchief, stood up and cleaned my eyes with my hand and said,” I do not need your pity, I am proud of who I am” as I stamp my feet on the floor.

Riccardo stays quiet as he washes her states the facts as she quarrels in anger just like the heavy breeze that was blowing aggressively all around them with dry leaves floating uncontrollably in the air, all these made his love for her increase, and he was determined to make Seraphina his mate when he thought she was human but now as an Alpha, there is no way he could make such mistake of making a vampire his mate knowing fully well that vampires are dangerously bad either to human beings and to werewolf, and he cannot protect his pack with a werewolf as his mate.

As she was talking a big branch of wood broke off and was about to fall on Seraphina, Riccardo rushed in and pushed her off that position to save her life and fell on top of her, he looked at her with a great desire to have and remove some of the hair on her face while touching her face romantically unconsciously, that was when Seraphiena pushed him away from her body and quickly stood up like someone unaffected by what he did, Riccardo still on the floor realized what happened and said: “see you cannot even take care of your selves, are you sure you are destined for long life”? This he said to take Seraphina’s mind away from what he did. No doubt he was madly in love with Seraphina but he tried his best not to let her know about it.

“indeed my life is in danger, everyone and everything are after my life so much so that I don’t even know where to face now” Immediately she said that she remembers her family whom she has left behind so she quickly run into the cave picked up her jacket and headed to the direction of her house. “Where are you going to”? asked Riccardo”,” How do you care, well I am going back to my house where my love once are”.

Riccardo ran after her and stopped her “See you cannot go close to them again, at least not now that you can not even control your power, you are a danger to them as we speak”.

Then, she brought out a piece of paper from her jacket and wrote something on it and She looked at Riccardo with a mischievous smile and said, “Please take this letter to my parents” Riccardo smirked and said, “Should I remind you that we are enemies?”

“I know,” she said sadly, after this, I promised to go away from you since that is what you want Riccardo took the piece of paper from her left to Serephina’s house. While Seraphina lay down in the woods waiting for Riccardo and thinking of where nest to go after she leaves Riccardo when all of a sudden she heard some strange sounds coming towards her, she quickly sat up straight and to her surprise she was surrounded by werewolves snarling, growling and hissing at her like they were in for her life, she stood up staggeringly, knowing fully well she needed to defend herself, she started trying to shift but could not and before you know it they pounced on her, though she tried to fight back but she was no match for them and she could not change either, so when they were done beating her, they left her to death.

In no distant time, Riccardo came back and saw that the place he left Seraphina was in disarray with blood all over the place so it was done on him that something bad might have happened so he called out continuously “Saraphina, where are you?” but could not get any response as he searched for her everywhere and later found her lying down lifeless, immediately he fell to his knees and cried at the top of your voice and said ‘Why Seraphina, who did this to you”? As he shake and carried her sorrowfully, he stopped suddenly and checked her body as if he noticed something.
