Chapter 4

1302 Words
Declan There seems to be no one around the house, the main gate is left open and so is the main house door. I know she is in the house because her intoxicating scent keeps growing nearer and nearer as I enter the main door. “Tassy.” I call out, I can't wait to see her face. I can't explain how nervous and excited I am at the moment. I just want to clear up the situation, I don't want her to have a wrong idea about me. I want to know everything about her, her family, most especially if she is married or not. I would like to have her all to myself , and I can't do that if there is enmity between us. She is human so she can't feel the bond, the only way is to slowly bring her to my side. The living area is so clean and neat, adorned with beautiful landscape pictures hanged on its walls. A large brown sofa sits in the middle of the room, at the middle a glass coffee table with a vase of fresh roses on it. The décor is just right, modern. I can tell they are well-off people. On the adjacent wall, lies a forty-three inches television set, beneath it a wide stand with picture frames on it. I walk towards them expecting to see Tassy’s, but I don’t, the family pictures don’t include her. I don’t see a single photo of her. Weird right? My wolf howls inside me in fear all of a sudden, something doesn’t feel right. “Tassy!!” I call out, now with more desperation. I run upstairs to where the scent seems to come from, why isn’t she responding? I stop in front of a locked wooden door, when her scent concentrates on that area. She is definitely in here, but why is the door locked? “Tassy are you in there?” I ask, but of course I get no response, instead, I hear faint breaths coming from the other side of the door. Without hesitation, I kick the door wide open only to see Tassy lying on the bed. My heart shutters as my eyes grow wider, “Tassy no!!!” I scream rushing to her side scooping her in my arms. I wipe the foam from her mouth. “Please open your eyes, don’t leave me Tassy please, I’ve waited for you for so long. You can’t leave me now.” Where is my phone, with my trembling hands I dial 911? My heart races frantically as so many scenarios play in my mind. What will happen to me if I lose her like this? Moon goddess, please don’t take her from me. Every second feels like an eternity, I can’t wait any longer, I scoop her in my arms, literally running downstairs with her in my arms. Her neck is so wobbly, her heart is beating so faintly, as her breath becomes labored. “Please save her, please.” I beg the paramedics as they take her from my arms, do a first aid on her before ventilating her and placing her on the ambulance. I hop in with her, with one medic at the back with me. I can’t stop praying. ‘What will we do, Declan?’ Granville asks in utter shock, I don’t even know what to say to him. *** Machines beeping, her chest rising and falling rhythmically, her eyes closed, her full lips tightly closed, her face looking like an angel lying peacefully. One question keeps running in my mind, 'Why!!' Why did she do something so drastic. “She is now out of danger.” I can’t explain the relief I felt after hearing these words. I thought I would lose her, but the goddess brought her back to me. I don’t think if I could have survived her loss. “What happened? Why did she try to commit suicide?” the doctor asked when she called me in her office. I didn’t know what to tell her. I noticed Tassy looked sad, but I didn’t think she would go to this extent. Is her life this miserable or did someone else try to kill her and make it seem like suicide? I’m going to protect her from the world, I will be there for her. What I cannot shake off is the fact that someone locked her in the room and left. Who could have done such an inhumane thing? The person will have to face my wrath, for now, I just need her to be okay, that’s what matters. I stay with her in the hospital for a day, and I’m glad when the doctor tells me I can transport her to a private facility. I just take her to my home, it will be easier to monitor her, I also hire a nurse for the same. She also advises me to make sure I take her to therapy when she fully awakens. Where could her family be? And why hasn’t anyone come to look for her. After successfully setting up a room for her and carefully placing the hospital equipment, the medics leave the house, leaving one nurse in charge. I decide to freshen up before preparing some coffee for myself. The picture of Tassy's foaming mouth and her limp body doesn't seem to leave my mind. It haunts my very thoughts, each time my body shivers. The doorbell takes me off my thoughts, I hurriedly open the door seeing its my father on the doorbell monitor “Hello son, I came to check up on you, your mother was worried when you didn’t answer your phone since last night.” It’s the first thing he says after entering. “I’m sorry, father, something came up…” “What’s with the noise?” he asks before I can finish my statement as he walks towards the room where Tassy and the nurse are. Before I can stop him, he swings the door open. “What the f**k Declan, what’s Tassy doing here in that condition. What did you do to her?” “I’m sorry sir, but I have to ask you out of the room, the patient needs peace and quiet for her to recover.” The nurse interjects before escorting my father out of the room. “Explain yourself Declan, don’t make me mad.” I can see rage lines visible on his forehead. “Did you hurt her, you know the rules about killing a human son, how could you be this stupid, huh?” “Please let me explain father, okay.” I beg. “You better!” he mutters sighing loudly before taking a seat on the sofa. I take the space next to him, “Well, it happens that…” I explain everything that conspired to the point where I brought her to my house. “Reject her.” My father says the moment I finish explaining. “Reject her as soon as she wakes up.” He dads. “I will do no such thing.” I say firmly standing as well. I am taller than my dad so I'm towering over him. “You of all people know how long I’ve waited for her.” I add feeling so broken. How could he suggest something like that to me? “A lowly human, can never be the Luna of Crescent moon pack son. Sonia was the ideal Luna. So you have to reject Tassy and that’s final.” He storms out banging my glass door causing it to shatter to pieces. “Over my dead body.” I say more to myself. No one goes against the great Alpha Charles Raynolds but in this, I have to, no matter the consequences.
