(Jax's Point of View)
Jax sat in the audience, his heart pounding as he watched Miki and Sky perform their duet. Miki's voice was stunning, and the way he and Sky harmonized was nothing short of magical. Jax couldn't help but feel proud of Miki, but there was also a pang of something else—something he didn't want to acknowledge.
When the song ended and the crowd erupted into applause, Jax clapped the hardest, his heart swelling with pride. But as Miki gave him a small smile from the stage, Jax felt a twinge of unease. Miki had come so far, and Jax was thrilled for him, but he couldn't ignore the growing closeness between Miki and Sky.
After the performance, Jax waited for Miki near the backstage area. He saw Miki and Sky laughing and congratulating each other, and a knot formed in his stomach. When Miki finally walked over to him, Jax pulled him into a tight hug, trying to push his worries aside.
"You were incredible, Miki," Jax said, his voice filled with genuine admiration.
"Thanks, Jax. Your support means everything to me," Miki replied, his words warm and sincere.
As they left the event together, Jax couldn't shake the feeling of jealousy that had taken root in his heart. He hated feeling this way, especially towards Miki, who had become so important to him. But every time he saw Miki with Sky, it was like a reminder that he wasn't the only one who cared about Miki.
The following days were a blur of schoolwork and swim practice, but Jax couldn't get the image of Miki and Sky out of his mind. He tried to focus on his own activities, but the nagging feeling of insecurity lingered. He was used to being the center of attention, and now he found himself grappling with feelings of doubt and vulnerability.
One afternoon, as he was leaving swim practice, Jax spotted Miki and Sky sitting on a bench, deep in conversation. The sight made his chest tighten, and he quickly looked away, not wanting to be seen. He walked home, his thoughts racing.
That evening, Jax found himself pacing his room, his emotions in turmoil. He knew he had to talk to Miki, to be honest about how he was feeling. But the fear of pushing Miki away held him back. He took a deep breath and grabbed his phone, texting Miki.
"Hey, can we talk? It's important."
A few minutes later, Miki replied. "Sure, Jax. Meet me at the park?"
Jax agreed, and a little while later, he found himself sitting on a bench in the park, waiting for Miki. When Miki arrived, he looked concerned. "What's up, Jax? You seemed upset."
Jax took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. "Miki, I need to be honest with you. I've been feeling... jealous. I see how close you and Sky are getting, and it makes me feel like I'm losing you."
Miki's eyes widened in surprise. "Jax, you're not losing me. Sky and I are just friends. You're the one who's always been there for me."
"I know that," Jax said, his voice strained. "But it's hard. I care about you a lot, Miki. More than just as a friend."
Miki looked at Jax, his expression softening. "Jax, I care about you too. A lot. But you have to trust me. Sky is important to me, but you're irreplaceable. You're the one who stood by me when no one else did."
Jax felt a rush of relief at Miki's words, but the insecurity still lingered. "I just don't want to lose you, Miki."
"You won't," Miki said firmly. "But you have to believe in our friendship. And maybe... maybe we can figure out what we really mean to each other."
Jax nodded, his heart feeling lighter. "Okay. I'll try."
They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of their conversation hanging in the air. Jax felt a sense of clarity. He knew that his feelings for Miki were deeper than he had initially realized, and he needed to confront them head-on.
As they walked home together, Jax felt a renewed sense of determination. He would work on his insecurities and trust in their bond. Because, in the end, Miki was worth it. And he would do whatever it took to keep their friendship strong, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
