Chapter 10: A New Perspective

918 Words
(Sky's Point of View) Sky sat in the music club room, strumming his guitar absentmindedly. His mind was a whirl of thoughts about Miki. What had started as a simple suggestion from his sister, Star, had turned into something far more complicated and unexpected. When Star had first approached him about Miki, Sky had been skeptical. "Why should I get involved with him?" he had asked her. Star had rolled her eyes. "Because he's been hanging around Jax too much. I need Jax focused on me and not on some chubby nerd. Just befriend him, distract him a bit. It'll make things easier for both of us." Sky had reluctantly agreed, seeing it as a way to keep peace with his sister. At first, he had approached Miki with that goal in mind. But the more time he spent with Miki, the more he realized that there was something special about him. Miki's genuine kindness, his passion for music, and his incredible voice drew Sky in. One day, after another practice session with Miki, Sky found himself lingering in the music room, watching Miki pack up his things. There was a lightness to Miki now that hadn't been there before, a confidence that had blossomed since joining the music club. "You did great today, Miki," Sky said, smiling. Miki looked up, returning the smile. "Thanks, Sky. I really enjoy practicing with you." Sky felt a warmth spread through him at Miki's words. He realized then that his feelings for Miki had shifted. What had started as an obligation to his sister had turned into a genuine friendship. And perhaps, something more. That evening, as Sky sat alone in his room, he thought about how much had changed. He no longer saw Miki as just a means to an end. He valued their time together and admired Miki's strength and resilience. And the more he thought about it, the more he realized that he wanted to be closer to Miki, to be someone Miki could rely on. The next day, Sky found Miki in the music club room, practicing a new song. He watched for a moment, captivated by the way Miki lost himself in the music. When Miki finished, Sky approached him, his heart pounding. "Miki, can we talk for a minute?" Sky asked, trying to keep his voice steady. Miki looked up, curiosity in his eyes. "Sure, what's up?" Sky took a deep breath, deciding to be honest. "When I first started hanging out with you, it was because Star asked me to. She wanted me to distract you so Jax would pay more attention to her. But... things changed. I realized that I genuinely like spending time with you. You're talented, kind, and honestly, you've become important to me." Miki's eyes widened in surprise. "Star asked you to befriend me?" Sky nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. "Yeah. But I want you to know that it's different now. I really value our friendship, Miki. And I want to be honest with you because you deserve that." Miki was silent for a moment, processing Sky's words. Then, he smiled, a mixture of relief and understanding in his eyes. "Thanks for telling me, Sky. It means a lot that you were honest. And I appreciate our friendship too." Sky felt a weight lift off his shoulders. "I'm glad to hear that, Miki. I just wanted to make sure you knew the truth." As they continued to practice, Sky felt a renewed sense of purpose. He was determined to be a better friend to Miki, to support him genuinely and wholeheartedly. And if there was a chance for something more, he was willing to explore that too. In the following days, Sky noticed the tension between Miki and Jax. He could see the way Jax looked at Miki, the protective concern in his eyes. Sky couldn't deny that he felt a pang of jealousy, but he also understood that Miki and Jax had a deep bond. One afternoon, after practice, Sky decided to talk to Jax. He found him at the pool, taking a break between laps. "Hey, Jax. Can we talk?" Sky called out, approaching him. Jax looked up, surprise flickering across his face. "Sure, Sky. What's up?" Sky took a deep breath, steeling himself. "I just wanted to clear the air. I know you've noticed that I've been spending a lot of time with Miki. And I wanted to explain why." Jax listened attentively as Sky recounted how Star had initially asked him to befriend Miki and how his feelings had changed over time. When he finished, Jax looked thoughtful. "I appreciate your honesty, Sky," Jax said finally. "I care about Miki a lot. He means the world to me. And I just want to make sure he's okay." Sky nodded, understanding the depth of Jax's concern. "I care about him too, Jax. More than I expected to. And I want to be a good friend to him. Maybe more, if that's something he wants." Jax studied Sky for a moment before nodding. "Alright. Just know that if you ever hurt him, you'll have to answer to me." Sky smiled, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Jax. "Deal. Let's both make sure Miki has the support he needs." As they shook hands, Sky felt a new sense of determination. He was committed to being there for Miki, to supporting him and helping him shine. And maybe, just maybe, they could find their own harmony in the process.
