You're mine now." The phrase haunted her, a specter of doom. As she packed her belongings, Bella's hands trembled like leaves in an autumn storm. She felt like a prisoner, trapped in a nightmare from which she couldn't awaken. Suddenly, she spotted a droplet of blood on her countertop. Her heart skipped a beat, and her vision blurred. The sight of blood always triggered a flashback, transporting her back to that fateful night. The sound of screams still lingered in her ears, the smell of blood still clung to her nostrils, and the feeling of helplessness still gripped her heart. "Bella, we need to go," Enzo's voice snapped her back to reality. Bella nodded, still shaken. Her eyes searched Enzo's, seeking answers. "You're alone, Bella," Enzo reminded her, his voice dripping with malice. "Like a tree without roots, you'll wither and die without me." The simile cut deep, and Bella felt uprooted, torn from the soil of her old life. As they left the apartment, Bella's anxiety spiked. She was trapped, and Enzo held the key. "You'll learn to love me," Enzo whispered. Bella shuddered. "Never," she vowed. Enzo's smile twisted, a cruel mockery. "We'll see about that," he murmured. ****** Shadows of the Past ****** Bella's thoughts swirled, a maelstrom of fear and uncertainty. As they drove through the city, Bella's gaze drifted out the window. Enzo's voice broke the silence. "You have no family, Bella. No one to turn to. You're mine now." The words stung, a slap to her already battered heart. Bella knew the truth – she had no one. Her father's debts had ensured that. She was alone, adrift in a world of darkness. The city blurred, a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds. Bella's heart sank, weighed down by the anchors of her father's mistakes. She felt trapped, a bird caged and helpless. Enzo's eyes gleamed in the rearview mirror. "You'll never escape me," he whispered. Bella shuddered, her heart racing like a wild animal. But she knew she had to try, to find a way out of this prison. And so, she vowed to herself. "I will escape." "I will survive." "I will be free."
