Everybody needs inspiration Everybody needs a song A beautiful melody When the nights are long 'cause there is no guarantee That this life is easy Yeah when my world is falling apart When there's no light To break up the dark That's when I, I I look at you -Miley Cyrus; When I Look At You ~~Narrator~~ It's been three days. Sydney has been missing for three days, and honestly the detectives have only brought in a few suspects. The same people have been at the station for hours looking through Syd's things. Andie and Chasity are always hanging around every station, Dominic is always right under officer Banks's nose, Rose is always right beside Dominic trying to help, except for at night when she has to go home for rest. "Dominic, come here son...we have figured out the object." Dominic leaves out of Banks's office and follows him to the lab. Rose left an hour ago. One hour earlier than usual because she had cramps. "Alright, so down the street a couple of blocks, one of our officers found the bat in a trash can. It still has blood on it, but it is dried up now. It is an usual bat though...not many have one like this. It was carved out of old oak, made in Mexico...1786." Dominic starts shaking his head. "Dude, I've seen this bat before." "Nah, it could not have been this one." "No, it is exactly this one. I have seen it somewhere! I can't remember where though." "Son, are you sure?" "Oh my God! Where have I seen this? It was only for a quick second. It was sitting on the floor against a wall, and I looked into the room for a quick second...but that's it and I remember it only because it looked weird." "Dominic, I need you to remember what room it was. This is a major lead way, we could even find the suspect!" "You don't think I know that!" Dominic snaps at him, even though he did not mean to. The fact that he cannot remember this one small detail that could lead him to Sydney is very frustrating. He has not eaten since she has been missing. He refuses to go to any football practice to try and keep his mind off of what is happening, and he has not seen sleep since she went missing. If he sleeps, he could miss something, and he refuses to miss a single second. "Hey, I didn't mean any  harm man." "I'm sorry, it's just frustrating. I might be the only thing standing in the way of finding her and I can't even remember where I saw that stupid bat!" He throws his face in his hands and takes some deep breaths. "You really need to get some sleep kid. You need your rest or else you are going to malfunction, and I know you want to be functioning right in order to find Sydney." Dominic nods his head, because even though he does not want to admit it, officer Banks has a point. The door opens and Andie comes running in with some food. Poor girl has been hopping on everybody since she flew in from Japan. Sydney is like the sister she always wanted, but never could get because her parents were too busy working. To lose a girl that she could finally call her best friend was too much for her to handle. "Dominic, please eat something. Then take a nap." She walks over to him and hands him a McDonald's bag. Even though he is not hungry, he takes the bag from her just to calm her down and to stop her from worrying about him. "I'm not that hungry, I'll just take a few fries and the drink." "Okay. Just eat something!" He starts munching on a few fries and then he realizes how hungry he really is. He proceeds to eat the burger she brought him, and it is probably the best thing he has tasted in a while. Most likely because he is starved. He hears officer Banks laugh behind him and feels him pat his back. "Damn kid, slow down. I told you to eat something sooner." "You have somewhere I can sleep?" He asks in between bites. "You mean here?" He nods his head because his mouth is too full to answer. "Nothing but these chairs and desks." "Well, I'm not leaving. I guess I will sleep in my car." "You sure you don't want to drive--" He looks up at officer Banks signaling him to just shut up. "Alright, whatever makes you comfortable." He finishes his food and throws away his trash. Out of nowhere Rose walks in looking extra tired. "Rose, what are you doing here?" "I forgot my jacket. So, any new news?" "We figured out what the object is, and we have it in the lab." "So, you think you could figure out anything from the bat?" "Well, they are still running tests in the lab, but we will know for sure by tomorrow." "Okay good! God, I hope she is okay. I need to go rest my back though, see you tomorrow!" She wobbles out and Dominic follows her to the door and holds it for her. "Thanks." He then makes his way out to his car in the parking lot. He sits in the driver's seat and lays it all the way back. His varsity jacket sits in the back, so he grabs it and drapes it over himself like a blanket. He didn't think sleep would come so easy, but as soon as he laid his head back, closed his eyes, and relaxed his mind, he was out. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~Sydney~~ "Baby, I'm back." I lift my head a little and I see Rose walk down the stairs. Lord, why? I have been going through hell in this basement. She thought I was just going to sit here and not try to escape. I got untied before and I tried to escape, but she has some huge guard standing over my door. He pushed me down the stairs, and I scraped my leg. The blood has dried up by now, but it still hurts like hell, and I tried to catch myself on my hands and I couldn't catch my fall. When she got home later and he told her what happened, the b***h smacked me again, and I can't deal with that s**t. Plus, my hands were free I smacked her ass back! I will fight a pregnant b***h if it means I get free. "I brought you some food. I know it took me a while to get back, but I left my jacket at the police station and had to drive aaallll the way back there. Anywho, did you miss me?" She gives me a twisted little smile. "No." It instantly drops. "Still being defiant I see." She comes over by me on the floor. My hands have been chained behind me and my legs are tied even tighter than before. She chained me to this damn pipe. "It's okay Sydney. Maurice told me that you would not fall instantly for me. That it would take time...and patience..." She rubs my hair back from out of my eyes. Oh my God, I just want to go home. I want to see my loving boyfriend, I want to be able to hug my pregnant sister and look after my nephew. I want to just be able to walk to dance practice, and go to my dorm room and work with Rihanna blasting in the background. I don't want to be here, and I don't know why she is doing this. "You'll be waiting forever." "DON'T...say things like that." She yanks my head back to look at her and a pain shoots up the back of my head from when I got knocked down the stairs. I grunt and worry instantly covers her face. "I'm sorry, it's just that. I try SO HARD to be good to you! I try so hard to love you, and you just throw it away. After all that I have done for you. There is so much that you don't even know about." She lets go of my chin and rubs her belly. "This is our baby you know?" "W-what?" "I got knocked up just for you. We can grow up and take care of our child together. Why do you think I slept with some guy I didn't even know? He would never think that he has a child, and would never come looking for me." I look at her like she is insane. I mean, she is, but now psychotic is an understatement. "You're crazy." She gives a sadistic laugh and I cringe my nose at her. "Thank you. You've finally realized. It's okay baby, you know what will end this? Just say you love me.." When she grabs my chin again, I try to yank my head away, but she has a firm grip on it. I already know what is going to happen next...she kisses me...right on the mouth. Now when I say kissing a girl is disgusting, I mean...I am using everything in my power not to throw up in her mouth. I keep my mouth completely still, and I keep my eyes wide open. No way she is going to try anything. When she pulls back, she keeps her eyes closed, but a smile grows on her face. When she opens them again, you can see the smile reach her eyes. "You're so beautiful." She pushes my hair out of my face again and I flinch at her touch. She sees it, and a hurt expression pops up on her face. She gets up with a little bit of a struggle and walks towards the stairs. I am still in my little corner...trapped here. As soon as the door closes I bawl my eyes out. I have to get out of here! I hate it here. I start looking around for something that will get me loose. Nothing, not a thing. My tears keep blurring my vision, but I need to gain composure over myself if I plan on breaking free. I blink a few times but they just blur back up. I just throw my head into my knees and bawl. I start to think about Dominic. I can see him now, refusing to sleep, eat, go home. It's the way he gets. I miss him so much. I think about the day before Rose took me when we were sitting at the beach. He kept flicking the bottoms on my bikini, and I kept trying to make him stop. I snort a little when I think about it. My tears have stopped now, but I keep thinking about him. I remember when I stepped on the piece of glass in the shore, and luckily it was a big piece. His ass got so worried though. He refused to let me limp back to the first aid place. He picked me up and carried me all the way. It was a ways off too. I used to think I would get tired of his protective behavior over me, but I never do. I actually find it funny and cute, and everyday it seems to grow so I guess I do have to get used to it. I don't mind though. God, I miss him. I wish I could help him find me...calling is definitely out of the question. Come on baby, I know you are right away from the answer...come on baby...come on. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~Dominic~~ I hear her laugh... It's too dark, where is she? How did we get to the beach. He took her to the beach? I hear her laugh again. "Sydney?" She peaks her head around one of the big rocks in the middle of the beach and waves at me. "Oops, you found me!" I run to her and she has her arms outstretched waiting for me. As soon as I reach her I kiss her all over. Her lips, her cheeks, her forehead, eyes, neck, lips. I feel her laughing the whole time. She is so goofy. "I miss you sooo much." "I miss you too." She smiles up at me, then kisses me again. Then she frowns at me. "What?" "You haven't been sleeping have you?" I put my head down and shake it. She laughs and shakes her head at me. "Are you eating at all?" "I just had a burger." "Don't kill yourself worrying about me. I need you to be there in one entire piece when you find me." "Syd, where are you? The detectives are no closer to finding you than they were three days ago...we'll never find you at this rate. They have been going into the wrong houses, bringing in the wrong suspects." "Baby, I know you can do this. You need to remember where you saw that bat." We sit on a set of rocks we were passing and she sits down and lets me lay my head in her lap. I hug her waist. I don't want her to disappear ever again. "Think Mickie. Where were we?" I can't, I don't remember. "Can't you just tell me?" I feel her laugh and I smile a little. I haven't heard her laugh in three days. Seems so long. "Sweetie, it doesn't work that way. Mickie.." I look up at her, and she is looking at me. "I want you to be the first person I see when they find me. No one else...I want to see you first. Can you promise me that?" "I promise baby. I won't allow anyone else to go in before me." She looks back out at the ocean. Her hair is blowing in the wind. She's gorgeous. I have to keep my promise, and I will. Where did I see that bat? I HAVE to remember, she is waiting on me. "Close your eyes." She places her hand over my eyes and I close them. "Now I am going to walk you through that day. Starting from that morning. We woke up and just stayed in bed for most of the morning." "Oohh, yea. I remember that morning." I start grinning. I feel her laugh as she hits me lightly on the arm. "Shut up! Be serious. So, then we went to go get brunch. Then I told you I needed to stop by my dorm. We went up and I stopped by someone's dorm. We went in and I asked you to go into their room and get a blanket...come on Mickie...I know you know who it is." "Rose.." The word slips from my lips before I can stop myself. I expect her to be mad, but when I look up she is smiling at me. She nods her head and I just look at her in shock. "Now go find me baby...I miss you." Syd starts to fade and I hold on to her. She can't leave me yet, I just got her back. "Dominic, wake up and find me, I know you can." I jump up in my car and it is dark out. Damn, what time is it? I look at the clock on my phone and it reads eight thirty. I jump out of the car and run inside. Where is everybody? I run to Banks' office. "Banks I know who's bat it is, I know who took her. It all makes sense." "Are you sure kid? We can't falsely accuse anyone." "I know, I know. Just shut up and listen. Okay, that bat I knew it looked familiar. I saw it once or twice in the same bedroom." "Who's?" "Rosetta." Banks looks at me like I am crazy. I hear Chasity take in a breath, and Andie looks pissed the hell off. She never liked her anyways. "Are you sure about this? How could a pregnant woman keep a girl hostage?" "Come on man! It is not that hard, knock her out, tie her up and everything is settled. Plus, remember when she was here just a few hours ago because she had forgot her jacket? Well, we told her that we figured out what the object was, but we never TOLD her what it was though so..." "How did she know?" He finishes my sentence for me, with a look on his face that shows he is thinking about what I am saying. "We've been looking at this all wrong! No one would expect a woman to be stalking Syd. I mean, gay stalkers are very rare right? So she got luck from that. Plus, she is pregnant. Who would think a pregnant woman would even be able to pull this off? She has probably been planning this for months...I mean, she was considered a close friend of Syd's. And she's been here the entire time keeping the suspicions off of her." Banks then picks up his phone and dials a number really quickly. "Hello? Yes, please get me all the back-up you can. We are about to solve the case of Miss Sydney Williams." He hangs up and walks around his desk smiling. What is he so happy about? My girlfriend is still missing! "So, aren't you going to write it down in your notepad or something? Call Rose in here? It's not over Sydney is still missing." "Yes, I know, but we are going to find her tomorrow for sure." "TOMORROW? She might not be alive tomorrow!" "She will be alive Dominic. I have come this far with you, you are going to have to trust me until the end." He gives a serious look waiting for my answer. I blow out a breath and scratch the back of my neck. "Okay." "Good, now...here's the plan."
