Chapter 11: Patience Is Not My Virtue

Chapter 11 

Cal’s POV

The wolf inside was scratching to be free, to claim what he knew was his. Her lips fit perfectly on mine, my missing puzzle piece. I didn’t mean to kiss her but I couldn’t take it any longer. She was pushing buttons to irritate me, questioning everything, taking a tone that was not fit to be used toward an alpha. I had stayed strong for these last two days to not take her as mine in every way physically possible.

As soon as our lips collided it was better than I imagined. My lips felt a tingling sensation that radiated throughout my entire body. I knew she could feel it too, I hoped the bond would be enough for her to submit to my lips. She hadn’t objected yet and her lips were exploring mine with the same neediness. One of my arms was holding me above her and the other was cupping her face, keeping her in place. I slide one of my knees between her legs opening her thighs. She let out a raspy breath as I let her come up for air and continued my attack down her jaw and neck. 

“Wait…”,  she was breathless. “I...I can’t... we have to…” she kept letting out short rebuttals but her breath and heartbeat was telling a different story.

Her hands were fist tangled into my shirt, she shoved me and broke my concentration on ravishing her neck and shoulder with kisses. My eyes met back to hers, I could see the concern and want on her face. She was unsure and felt guilty for wanting me this way.  I gently sat her up again on the couch and planted a final kiss on her temple. 

I stood up and grabbed out coffee cups and headed to the kitchen to wash them. I needed some space from her, putting distance was the only way I could keep my wolf from emerging again. Once in the kitchen I put my hands on the sink and took long deep breaths to calm myself. I looked up and through the window that the sink faced and wondered if it would always be this difficult. 

For a wolf the bond is immediate, strong and usually both wolves waste no time finishing the mate ritual. The goddess was testing me and my patience, she had to know I had little to none in my being. This was a difficult challenge but one I was not about to lose. 

“Eh’hem.” I turned quickly to see Wren in the doorway of the kitchen. Her face was still flushed and her hair still messy from our make out session. “Do you think I could get my belongings from my car? It could really help me feel better to have my clothes and other things I packed from home.”

“Of course I will have it arranged to gather you bags and bring them to your room… actually I was going to have you move into a new room this evening.” I was nervous for her to be furious. I was moving her to my room but I had to keep her close. I had laid on her bed in the guestroom most of the night. I couldn’t sleep knowing she wasn’t by my side. 

“Oh okay, the room I am in is perfect. I really don’t need a new one.” she was fidgeting with her hands and looking down at them. Like she always does when she is nervous.

“You will be moving into the master bedroom with me.” I turned around to finish rinsing out our mugs. Trying to deter away from awkward silence. 

“I really don’t feel comfortable sleeping in your room. I can just stay where I am. I already have to stay in this house against my will so why do I have to be residing in your bed now?” Her voice was sour and annoyed. My anger began to rise I did not like when I was questioned or an order was not followed through. 

I began to leave the kitchen to head out to the training grounds to meet with James and some other lead warriors. “It is my final word Wren.” I grabbed my shoes by the door and left the house locking it behind me.

Kaleb make sure the Luna stays inside the house today.

I mind linked one of the wolves assigned to patrol the house. I knew she would most likely stay inside and sulk but I was not going to chance her running off into the forest with rouge wolves at the border.
