After using my skill on Earth, I also used it on Pavel and Dome and I got more level ups, as a result.

According to our observation and analysis, I gain skills every time I level up. Most of these skills are referenced from my subordinates. So if they level up and obtain more skills, when I level up, I can obtain those skills as well.

Wow. My skill is such a cheat. I don't need to work so hard to obtain skills.

"Anyways, brother, do you want me to use my skill on you?" I asked my brother, who gave a sad face in return.

"Brendan, I don't think it's possible. Your skill includes subordination and race changing, but we are already Demons. Our powers and lives are directly linked to the former King."

"That's currently just a speculation. Is it because no Demon King has tried to do it?"

"That's right. There shouldn't be any reason why such a thing wouldn't be written in the history, right?" he replied.

"Even if it's possible, it's too dangerous. Even if we're basically demons already, our blood is still connected to the former King, since we became subordinated. It's like you're forcibly rewriting our souls and blood" Sky, the smooth skinned demon added.

I understand that. It's like rewriting a DNA of a person. But this is another world where magic happens, and the system we are using are directly created by the highest god of this world, and is only shared through one person, the Demon King. The power source of the former King and mine is the same. That is why, I'm quite confident.

"Okay fine. You can try it on me first. We don't live long anyway. Since our connection with the system has weaken, and with the ascension of a new Demon King, our connection is now completely cut off. Our lives are only being prolonged by our remaining magic. I've got nothing to lose. And besides, I trust the new Demon King, my brother" he smiled and went close to me.

Hearing what he said, and now that we're actually doing it, I became a tiny bit nervous. Theoretically, I don't see any possible life-threatening outcome from this, since it's from the same source, the system. At most, both we'll get hurt due to possible rebound or recoil. But I'm willing to risk it, just to have my brother by my side longer.

These are all ideas I came up, after I scanned through my previous memories; ranging from academic knowledge to fictional knowledge gained from books and fiction dramas.

"If this succeeds, we can live longer as well" my brother smiled at the other demons.

I raised my hand and did the same thing on my brother.

Just like before, I muttered a name as I use my skill, to complete the subordination.

And with the same result as the previous attempts, a bright light appeared.

Strangely though, it feels like my magic is being absorbed quicker, like being sucked by a vacuum.

My vision started to get blurry for a bit, and my posture began to wobble.

And as the light fades out, a window appeared in front of me.

Together with the notification windows, which are about my level up and a skill I obtained, I fainted.

As I opened my eyes, I found myself inside my room with a strong bright light, coming from the windows.

I looked around and saw my brother standing at the window.

"How long was I asleep?" I asked.

Hearing my question, my brother turned around and saw my face who just woke up.

"For more than half a day, probably. It's almost lunch time now." He answered, as he walked towards me.

Half a day, huh?

I suddenly remembered the cause why I fainted, which made me look at my brother, worriedly.

"Don't worry, everything's fine with me. In fact, it was a success." he smiled.

When I heard this, my face brightened with glee and felt relieved.

"Not only was it a success, but my race changed into an Archdemon and I can definitely live longer; now that I'm connected with you. I don't know how much advantage an Archdemon has though." He looked at me happily, full of excitement.

"You might've fainted because you had to use more magic than normal, since you had to overwrite the magic used by the previous king, and because you are still low leveled, your body was not able to handle the amount it used so it consumed your stamina, which made you faint." He continued.

"The downside is the fact that my level was reset, and my skills are all new. So this time, I won't be able to protect you as much as I can before" he stated, with a hint of sadness in it.

"It's alright. I am the Demon King now, so you could worry less for me" I smiled at him, holding his hand, to reassure him.

"But if you're really worried, you can just get stronger" I jokingly added, which made him laugh.

Suddenly, the room's door burst open, and the noble, Earth, entered. For a moment, he smiled, looking so happy when he saw me, but immediately became serious.

Okay...? Is there a problem?

"Oh, Earth! Are you here to check on His Highness?" Blake broke the short awkward silence Earth made when he entered.

"O-Oh! Umm... I-It's not that..." he stuttered as he looked back and forth towards me and my brother.

"I-I just want to report, that we've just finished hunting. A-And we'll start cooking it for lunch." He quickly stated and excused himself.

Okay?

"I forgot to mention, Earth, Pavel and Dome went to the forest and hunted for some meat for us to eat. Doing so, this will also help them level up" he explained.

"But isn't the forest very dangerous? Especially since they are still level one?" I asked.

"No worries, Sky, Allen and Kristof are with them. They are safe in their hands. I also told them the safe path we use, in case of emergencies." he answered to reassure me.

I see. Immediately, I went out of bed, now that I'm awake.

As I stand up, I asked Blake about my mother and he suddenly looked worried.

I understand where he's coming from, though. Demons has always been discriminated by the other races, regardless of affiliation, age and gender. And despite being blood-related, there's still a chance that my mother would run away and leave me or at worse, hate me.

I'm prepared for that. I was never close with my parents anyway. 

We were poor. And as a kid, I was never able to get things that I want, which made me more envious of other kids. The immature me, hated my parents at some level, because of that.

But after I became the Demon King, received this power, and new memories recovered and entered my mind, I became less hateful and more forgiving. But that doesn't change my nature. I'm still easily envious of people, easily jealous of people, that's how I live during this life as Brendan. And I still don't care, if my mother will hate me. With my power now, I can just simply gather allies who can help me and would not care if I'm the Demon King.

We're poor, so I have nothing of my own. I also can't decide for myself because I'm forced to choose things, the hardest way, because I don't have that much talent nor money. But because of this envy I have towards others, I always have a clear vision of what I want, and that's what made me hold on to hope that someday, all of those will be mine.

As I was thinking that, both Blake and I were walking towards the second cabin out of the three remaining livable shelters in the village.

After the bandits came, all that was left, was our house, since it was protected by Blake, the storehouse, because the bandits probably left it intact so they can ransack it after they kill all the people who can't become slaves, and the cabin we use like a hospital.

It's not really a hospital, but it is the biggest and cleanest cabin we have. The people who are hurt when hunting will be brought over there and will be taken care by the village chief's daughter, who serves as our village nurse with her basic knowledge in wound treatment.

The bandits might've put this place as the last to damage, since it was a bit father than the houses and other facilities.

"Thankfully, the hypnosis spell is still intact even after my skills were reset. But eventually, these people will wake up once the magic runs out, since I can't cast the hypnosis again" he explained as he opens the door.

As the door opens, I can see the people Blake was able to rescue, sleeping on the beds.

When I saw my mother, I immediately went over her direction and saw how she was doing. Her weight definitely decreased; that it was very obvious. All the people here haven't eaten anything yet, since they were put into sleep.

I signaled Blake to remove the spell on my mother.

Blake may not have the same spell as before, but he still knows how his former skills work and its nature, so he knows how to dispel it, as long as it is made by his power or something with the same nature.

Shortly, my mother opened her eyes and woke up. She looked around and found where she was, until her eyes landed on me. She immediately went crying and hugged me.

I don't hate her anymore, and that's true, but I don't have much affection towards her. But that's not enough for me to push her away.

I know she loves me. I know she cares for me. Which sane mother would not love her son? Her only son? I know that much.

But I never saw both my parents, try and pursue a better life. They were satisfied with our impoverished life, here in this dangerous forest, where every work we do in a day are also being consumed just as fast. That's why, the immature me, hated them, back then. But I was still not able to leave them nor kick them away. Regardless of my feelings towards them, they're my only family and they at least help me barely survive every day.
