Night had fallen, and Faye was feeling restless. There was no hunting tonight, just a night out
with her friend Camilla. Camilla had just gotten back from a trip to New Orleans- why did she go
there? She had some family business- and wanted to have some fun.
They hit the Flaming Club known for its wonderful vibes, dancing and laughing together. Faye
felt carefree, letting loose for the first time in weeks. A few guys had come over to speak to her,
but she'd kicked them out of her way. She was glad they were able to get the hint before she
could use force.
Camilla had gone to get them a few more drinks and was taking some time to be back, so she
moved around the dancefloor, a smile on her face.
But as she spun around the dance floor, she saw him and froze- Thane, the handsome
stranger from the diner.
He was standing by the bar, his eyes locked onto hers, and Faye felt a flutter in her chest.
This time, she wasn't just interested- she was drawn to him.
Camilla arrived with their drinks and followed her gaze and grinned when she saw Thane.
"Who's that?" she asked, her voice barely audible over the music. “He's hot."
Faye felt a pang of jealousy by her words but ignored it. Why would she be annoyed by
another girl stating the obvious? She barely knew the guy anyway.
Faye just shook her head, her eyes never leaving Thane's face. He was walking towards her,
a smile on his face, and Faye felt her heart skip a beat.
“I'll leave you be," Camilla whispered into her ear. “If you're uncomfortable, you can always
call."
Faye didn't have time to react at her departure.
As Thane reached her, Faye smiled up at him, feeling a spark of electricity. "Fancy meeting
you here," she said, her voice husky.
She'd leaned forward to speak to him to be audible to him.
Thane's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I could say the same," he replied. “Do you
want to go somewhere else… quiet?”
She pursed her lips as if in thought. “Sure," she said after draining her glass.
Camilla wouldn't have to worry about her reaching out because she could take care of herself.
Also, she wasn't sure she'd be able to refuse the man.
Thane wanted to slap himself in the face. The moment he walked into the building and saw her,
all his promises to himself were thrown out the window.
The patrol at the pack were busy, and Axel wanted to go out just this once to have some fun
before they went right back to important duties. He'd been reluctant, but his father was the one
who gave him the go-ahead. Who could say no to that man?
However, the moment they walked in, Axel abandoned him. He couldn't even be mad at him
because just then he'd seen Faye on the dance floor.
The skimpy dress she wore that gave him a peak into just how luscious her body was made
his blood boil. But in a really good way.
Just this once, he internally promised himself as he led her away up the stairs. Flaming Club
was basically a hotel. But payment for the usage of rooms came by morning, and Thane was
willing to pay for it.
Just this once, he repeated in his head.
“You seem to be thinking deeply,” Faye whispered in his ear, her legs on their tippy toes. "You
should stop all forms of that tonight.”
She raised her legs wrapping around his hips and he instinctively held her in place.
They looked deeply into each other's eyes as he used a hand to unlock one of the empty
rooms and closed the door behind them.
Thane could see her so clearly in the dark. The way she breathed heavily and just how
tempting her lips were. His grip around her tightened.
Without another word, Thane leaned in, his lips brushing against Faye's. Then kissed her
deeply, taking in her scent and trying to touch as much flesh as he could through her dress.
It was morning and Faye woke up to the unfamiliar sensation of a warm body beside her. She
turned her head, her gaze falling on Thane's sleeping form.
He’s so f*****g gorgeous, she thought. If there were more people like him in town, maybe her
life wouldn't be so shitty.
For a moment, she just lay there, watching him breathe. But as the memories of the previous
night came flooding back, Faye's instincts kicked in. She wasn't supposed to be interested in
cuddling or morning-after conversations. She never did that and she was going to keep
following those rules.
She carefully slipped out of bed, gathering her clothes and sneaking out of the room without
waking Thane.
She felt slightly guilty letting him pay for the room all alone, so she got out a few dollar bills
and placed them on his pants before finally leaving all dressed up.
The bright sunlight was a shock to her system as she stepped outside. Faye squinted, taking
a deep breath of the morning air. She took out her phone to message Camila as she made her way home by getting into a cab, her mind already turning to the tasks she needed to complete
that day.
On her way home, she thought about Thane, wondering what he'd think when he wakes up to
an empty bed. She hoped she didn't hurt him. Though why would she care if she hurt some random man who was a mystery to her.
He wanted her; she wanted him. It was all mutual. No need to feel bad for leaving.
That was what she tried to use to comfort herself as she got dropped home. It wasn't working
though.
And it was all so frustrating to her because she never did this.
Who the hell was this Thane guy anyway?
